Tim Walz pounces to smear ‘violent, untrained’ ICE agents after armed suspect shot and killed

A Border Patrol agent shot an armed suspect in Minneapolis, Minn., on Saturday, and Gov. Tim Walz did not bother to learn any facts before attacking the “violent, untrained” federal officers who were trying to apprehend the man.

Video of the incident shows the suspect, who was killed, resisting as several federal officers attempted to detain him. At a certain point, the officers can be seen backing away from the man when at least one of them opened fire. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a statement that the suspect was armed with a gun and two magazines.

Walz jumped to conclusions, posting on X: “I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening. The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.”

DHS was quick to release a statement offering more details about the shooting, as unruly activists began to converge on the scene.

“At 9:05 AM CT, as DHS law enforcement officers were conducting a targeted operation in Minneapolis against an illegal alien wanted for violent assault, an individual approached US Border Patrol officers with a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun, seen here,” the agency said. “The officers attempted to disarm the suspect but the armed suspect violently resisted. More details on the armed struggle are forthcoming.

“Fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, an agent fired defensive shots,” the release added. “Medics on scene immediately delivered medical aid to the subject but was pronounced dead at the scene.”

The National Border Patrol Council was quick to counter the irresponsible smear from the Democratic governor.

“Border Patrol agents are trained extremely well to protect themselves, their fellow agents, and innocent third parties. When a supposed ‘peaceful’ protester brings a weapon (such as a loaded handgun) and brandishes it, there are going to severe consequences and repercussions,” the union said in a statement.

“We have pleaded with and warned the media and the politicians that their irresponsible, hate-filled and false rhetoric is going to get people unnecessarily hurt, or worse, killed when they portray our agents and officers as the aggressors. They have encouraged these reckless confrontations and attacks on our agents and officers who are performing their lawful duties and enforcing the laws that Congress has put on the books,” the release continued. “The fake and dishonest media and the shameless politicians should be held accountable for willfully misleading the public and enticing these protesters and agitators. We have full confidence that when more facts are revealed, our agents and officers will be shown to have utilized justifiable force in eliminating the threat.”

Fox News contributor Marc Thiessen laid the blame for the chaos in the streets directly on Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, who have effectively surrendered city streets to a radicalized base that joins in their opposition to the enforcement of U.S. immigration laws.

“The governor and the mayor are to blame for all of this because they’re doing two things that are endangering both illegal migrants and the protesters,” Thiessen said.

“And they’re pouring fuel on the fire by accusing ICE of doing terrible things, which means that somebody is going to get upset and bring a gun to one of these protests and they’re going to get shot,” he added. “So they’re endangering the protesters with their rhetoric about ICE and by encouraging them to go out and protest. And the raids wouldn’t even be necessary if they would just do their jobs and follow the law and cooperate with ICE in deporting the people with criminal records.”

Social media users were quick to fault Walz and Frey, who have been inciting the mob of paid agitators for weeks now with their inflammatory rhetoric.
