Tim Walz, who taught English, blames his bad ‘grammar’ for ‘stolen valor’ lie

The heavily anticipated CNN interview with Democrat nominee Kamala Harris and running mate Tim Walz didn’t go off without a hitch despite the favorable environment, especially for the Minnesota governor.

Walz has been dogged by misrepresentations of his military service and accusations of “stolen valor” and when he was put on the spot by anchor Dana Bash about falsely claiming that he had carried a gun during war, “Tampon Tim” tossed off another ridiculous excuse.

“I want to ask you a question about how you‘ve described your service in the National Guard,” Bash said. “You said that you carried weapons in war, but you have never deployed actually in a war zone, a campaign official said that you misspoke, did you?”

Walz responded, not with an answer, but with a rambling excuse that used children as human shields and tried to explain his brazen lie as merely having stumbled with his grammar.

“Well, first of all, I‘m incredibly proud, I’ve done 24 years of wearing the uniform of this country. Equally proud of my service in a public school classroom whether it‘s Congress or the governor, my record speaks for itself, but I think people are coming to get to know me. I speak like they do.”

“I speak candidly, I wear my emotions on my sleeves and I, speak especially passionately about about our children being shot in schools and around, and around guns. So I think people know me, they know who I am, they know where my heart is, and again, my record has been out there for over 40 years to be for itself.”

Bash persisted. “And the idea that you said that you were in war, did you misspeak as the campaign has said?”

“I said we were talking about in this case, this was after a school shooting, the ideas of carrying these weapons of war, and my wife, the English teacher, told him, my grammar is not always correct.” the governor said, then turning to playing the victim and piling on the sanctimony.

“But again, if it‘s not this, it‘s an attack on my children for showing love for me or it‘s an attack on my dog. I‘m not I‘m going to do that,” he told Bash. “And the one thing I‘ll never do is I‘ll never demean and other members’ service in any way. I never have, and I never will.”

Other than his complete non-answer, Walz’s explanation that it was only his “grammar” didn’t pass muster with X users, one of them being a dissident from China, a country that the governor is intimately familiar with.

“Walz said his grammar is not always right. And yet he went to China to teach Chinese students English,” wrote defector Xi Van Fleet.

She was referring to his work in the communist country where he taught English after graduating from college. Experience that was highlighted by NPR in a recent article noting the “impression” that he made on Chinese students.

“In 1989, a 15-year-old Dai met Walz, who became her first foreign English teacher at Foshan No. 1 Middle School in southern China. During that school year, Walz taught English and U.S. history to around 300 students, she says,” reported NPR, which is essentially state-run media.

Walz has made over 30 trips to China, a potential national security issue that has prompted an investigation by House Republicans.

“Americans deserve to fully understand how deep Governor Walz’s relationship with China goes,” House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) said in a post to X earlier this month. “Governor Walz: Visited China at least 30 times. Served as a fellow at a Chinese institution that maintains a devotion to the CCP. Spoke alongside the President of a Chinese organization the State Department exposed as a CCP effort to influence local leaders.”

“FBI briefers recently informed the Committee that the Bureau’s Foreign Influence Task Force investigates CCP activity that is similar to China’s engagement with Governor Walz. The American people deserve to fully understand how deep Governor Walz’s relationship with China goes,” Comer said in a press release posted to the Oversight Committee website.

It is unclear if Walz has been compromised in any way by the communists but there’s no question that he lied when it comes to his military service.
