TIPP: Mr. President is right – this is un-American

President Biden delivered a televised address from Washington’s Union Station on the eve of one of the most consequential midterm elections in memory.

He did not speak about the economy, crime, or the war in Ukraine. He ignored the Fed’s continued action earlier in the day to raise interest rates by 75 basis points yet another time, signaling that the Fed thinks the inflation problem is real and present.

Instead, he made it all about “Democracy,” delivering from the bully pulpit a summarized version of the J6 Committee’s nationally televised series all summer.

We doubt if President Biden’s speech changed one vote because, for the hundredth time, he was inherently dishonest.

He didn’t address the Dems’ caustic brand of democracy where rules apply to only one side. Half the country is vehemently opposed to this brand of partisan politics. Contrary to President Biden’s assertions, the midterm elections are indeed a referendum on the Dems’ abuses of power. And the results will show next week when the Democrats are slated to lose both the House and the Senate.

In his speech, President Biden condemned the violent attack that hospitalized Paul Pelosi by a hammer-wielding assailant. The attacker intended to kidnap Speaker Pelosi, who wasn’t in residence then, indicating that the assailant was a novice who did not carefully plan his attack. According to The Hill, a woman who said the attacker helped raise her until she was 13 wrote on her blog, “There is some part of him that is a good person even though he has been very consumed by darkness.”

President Biden never considered the possibility that the attacker could have mental health issues. Instead, the president framed it as though the attack was a meticulously organized insurrection and that democracy was in peril.

If President Biden had to be taken seriously, he should have mentioned the 2017 mass shooting attack in Alexandria targeting U.S. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, who still walks with a limp. The assailant then was 66-year-old James Hodgkinson, a left-wing political activist from Belleville, Illinois, who succumbed to police fire. The FBI concluded the shooting was an act of domestic terrorism and the perpetrator, a “domestic violent extremist” with a “personalized violent ideology.”

The truth is that the above-mentioned attack on democracy occurred months before the 2016 presidential election when Biden was Vice President. At the time, government functionaries aligned with Democrats deployed the enormous levers of the U.S. government to go after Donald Trump’s campaign.

Senior members of the FBI, including Lisa Page and her lover Peter Strzok, conspired to prevent a Trump victory. The FBI sought FISA court surveillance on the Trump campaign knowing full well that the information on which it based the request was tabloid trash material from Christopher Steele. He was aiding the opposition research team for the rival Hillary campaign, including providing information to Jake Sullivan, now Biden’s National Security Adviser.

When President Trump won anyway, the FBI continued its attack against Michael Flynn, the incoming National Security Adviser. On the day Trump was inaugurated, the Washington Post ran a column: The campaign to impeach President Trump has begun.

These extraordinary events constituted an attack on democracy that continued for four straight years. The Deep State, colluding with corporate media, handicapped every move of the 45th president, impeaching him twice and burying him under investigation after investigation even today.

While the events of January 6 are tragic and should never have occurred, it remains a fact that American democracy was never at risk. The states had already certified the elections for President Biden. The January 6 proceedings at the Capitol were largely ceremonial. Then Vice President Mike Pence, who was presiding, has repeatedly said that he did not have the power to overturn state electoral certifications and refused to act on Trump’s pressure, upholding the holiest traditions of American democracy.

Besides, it is not clear what would have happened had Pence gone rogue. With pressure building from the media and the Democrats, it is unclear if House Republicans would have gone ahead to seat electors that would give Trump a victory. And then there is the Supreme Court. After disallowing election claims in Pennsylvania, the Court, even with a conservative majority, would have likely ruled in President Biden’s favor.

So, if anything, the American system of checks and balances ensured a healthy democracy. The transition of power to the Biden administration was seamless, having kicked off weeks after Election Day. President Trump relinquished office in time for President Biden’s inauguration.

Suppose President Biden was genuinely concerned about democracy… In that case, he should have discussed the numerous last-minute changes to the 2020 electoral processes in multiple states that created an environment for and a perception of fraud. Democrat operatives pushed through unprecedented changes in the middle of the night, without adequate public scrutiny or media coverage, to increase mail-in balloting and drop boxes.

In New Jersey, Democrats changed the laws to send absentee ballots to every registered voter. In Nevada, the regulations to allow universal mail-in ballots were changed just 80 days before the election. The Democrats also pushed through changes for counting and vote tabulation. The rules to accept late mail-in ballots were relaxed. Long-standing restrictions to verify ballot signatures against voter rolls were eliminated.

The J6 Committee, charged with investigating the causes of the Capitol Hill tragedy, should have looked into irregularities caused by these changes. But it did not. Today, local, state, and federal government agencies are continuing to cripple former President Trump nearly two years after he left office, all with the intent to bring criminal charges against him so that he cannot run again in 2024.

President Biden said of the attacks on democracy: “This is the path to chaos in America. It’s unprecedented. It’s unlawful. And it’s un-American.”

We agree. The Dems’ brand of democracy is indeed the path to chaos in America. It’s unprecedented. It’s unlawful. And it is un-American.
