Top House Democrat’s daughter arrested for allegedly painting ‘NO COP CITY’ at Antifa protest

The House Minority Whip’s daughter was arrested for defacing a Parkman Bandstand Monument in Boston Common during an Antifa protest on Saturday night.

Rep. Katherine Clark (D-Mass.) said on Twitter that she loves her daughter, who is non-binary, and called this a “difficult time.”

“Last night, my daughter was arrested in Boston, Massachusetts,” Clark wrote. “I love Riley, and this is a very difficult time in the cycle of joy and pain in parenting.”

“This will be evaluated by the legal system,” she added, “and I am confident in that process.”

Police arrived on the scene following a call about the protest, and “observed an individual defacing the monument with spray paint,” according to a statement on the Boston Police Department’s website.  Jared “Riley” Dowell, 23, a resident of Melrose, was later identified as the person tagging the monument with the slogans “NO COP CITY” and “ACAB,” shorthand for, “All Cops Are Bastards.”

“During the arrest of Jared Dowell, a group of about 20 protesters began to surround officers while screaming profanities though megaphones on the public street causing traffic to come to a standstill,” the statement reads. “While interfering with the arrest of Jared Dowell, an officer was hit in the face and could be seen bleeding from the nose and mouth. ”

“Jared Dowell was placed under arrest and charged with: Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Destruction or Injury of Personal Property and Damage of Property by Graffiti/Tagging,” the department stated.

Clark herself has been caught up in protests, so it isn’t hard to see where Dowell found her inspiration.

In July 2022, the Democrat was arrested alongside Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) outside the Supreme Court during a “peaceful protest” over abortion rights.

Clark has long been vocal in both her support of trans rights and her dislike of Republicans.

“Happy #TransDayOfVisibility!” she tweeted in March 2022. “While bigoted Republican politicians push their discriminatory agenda, we celebrate the trans, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming community with joy and love — because all people deserve respect and equality. Nothing less.”

During the highly contested appointment of Rep. Kevin McCarthy as House Speaker, Clark tweeted about the Republicans’ commitment to “extremism.”

“The election of Speaker Kevin McCarthy is a troubling sign of what’s to come from the Republican Majority. At every turn, he has put power and politics ahead of the health and well-being of our democracy and the American people,” she wrote in a three-part thread.

“Now, as we turn the page to a new Congress, the @HouseGOP is doubling down on their commitment to extremism, proposing an agenda that eliminates reproductive freedom, undermines our planet, and strips health care from millions of Americans,” she continued. “We take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, including coming together to find common ground where we can. @HouseDemocrats are resolute in that commitment and ready to work across the aisle if Republicans can find their way back to the American people.”

Dowell is “is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court,” according to the Boston Police Department.

Online, news of the arrest of the Congresswoman’s daughter was met with a brutal indictment of Clark’s parenting skills.

“Clark once claimed her kids woke up at night terrified that they would die from global warming,” wrote one user on Twitter. “Some kind of family she’s raising…”

“Munchausen by Proxy,” wrote another, referring to a psychiatric disorder in which the caretaker of a child, “most often a mother, either makes up fake symptoms or causes real symptoms to make it look like the child is sick,” according to MedlinePlus, which adds that it’s “a form of child abuse.”

“She raised a son, who is confused about his gender and is part of Antifa (a destructive military terrorist group),” said a third. “And somehow the people of Massachusetts felt that this woman is capable of Representing one of its districts.”
