Trans admiral Rachel Levine says kids can go through the ‘wrong puberty’

Assistant Secretary for Health Adm. Rachel Levine is facing backlash for claiming in a recent interview that children can undergo the “wrong puberty.”

Levine, a “transgender woman” and staunch trans advocate, offered the bizarre theory during an ABC News interview recorded last week.

The relevant portion of the interview began with interviewer Juju Chang asking, “What would you say to folks who think that they’re being reasonable by saying why can’t children just wait until they’re 18?”

Levine replied by claiming that if a child “feels” like they’re the wrong gender, then they should be allowed to change their gender right away.

“Adolescence is hard and puberty is hard. What if you’re going through the wrong puberty? What if inside you feel that you are female but now you’re going through a male puberty?” the secretary said.

It’s not included in the clip above, but Chang followed up by saying, “The argument is they’re too young to know.”

“I want to make it clear that for prepubescent children, there are no medical procedures done. The standard of care allows them to explore that with therapy,” Levine replied.

The reactions to the remarks were swift and deafening, with critics rushing forth from all directions to castigate Levine for making such a “delusional” argument.

“No one can go through ‘the wrong puberty.’ Woke bureaucrats are lying to our children and trying to destroy our country. We must fight back,” Florida Gov. Ron  DeSantis, a current presidential candidate, tweeted.

“Yes, what if you’re going through the wrong puberty? Also, what if you have the wrong liver or the wrong left kneecap? What if you have the wrong eye color? What if you have the wrong DNA? These and many other questions make sense if you’re a delusional schizophrenic,” conservative radio show host Matt Walsh added.

Some critics were also quick to point out to Levine that virtually all of Europe is trending in the other direction when it comes to so-called “gender-affirming care.”

“A growing number of countries, including some of the most progressive in Europe, are rejecting the U.S. ‘gender-affirming’ model of care for transgender-identified youth. These countries have adopted a far more restrictive and cautious approach, one that prioritizes psychotherapy and reserves hormonal interventions for extreme cases,” The Hill reported last month.

The Hill further noted that unlike U.S.-based medical groups like the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), European health authorities “are recommending exploratory therapy to discern why teens are rejecting their bodies and whether less invasive treatments may help.”

The complete opposite is happening here, with U.S. medical officials automatically accepting whatever gender narrative that young children relay to them.

Indeed, in a separate interview recorded last month, Levine argued that the government should have no say in whether or not children may receive “gender-affirming care.”

He also attacked the European-like laws being enacted by GOP governors to stop the proliferation of  “gender-affirming care.”

“These politically and ideologically motivated laws and actions are harming youth, particularly transgender youth, their families, and even their providers who are under siege in many parts of this country,” Levine said.
