The harpies on ABC’s “The View” were discussing country music singer Miranda Lambert stopping her show in Las Vegas over the weekend after getting irritated by a group of fans taking selfies and cohost Whoopi Goldberg punctuated the segment when she walked off the set.
Lambert caught a lot of flak online for scolding the concertgoers and essentially telling them to sit down, and Whoopi weighed in on the country music star’s side.
“If they paid money for the tickets they came to see her so if she’s singing at least a little respect,” she said, going on to suggest the fans were treating Lambert like a “lounge singer.”

Cohost Sunny Hostin pointed out the cost of the tickets before saying, “I’m going to take as many selfies as I want if I paid $757 for tickets.”
The audience was clearly in agreement, but not Whoopi.
“You know what? If you’re going to spend $750 to come to my concert, then give me the respect of watching me while I do my thing. Or don’t come,” she said.
Hostin countered that she may want to “replay” the moment later and use her phone to record the memory.
It was at this point that Whoopi rose up from her seat and began walking away from the table, telling Hostin: “Turn on the television, girl.”
Joy Behar asked Whoopi where she was going and she fired back over her shoulder, “I’m leaving y’all!”
But she didn’t leave the set entirely. Instead, she walked over to the first row of seats in the studio audience — to take a selfie with an audience member!
“I want to take a picture with this marvelous woman, who is 91. So, we’re going to do a selfie. Just me and you,” Goldberg said as she approached the woman. “Will you push that button? We’ll be right back.”
Meanwhile, the online debate rages on over whether Lambert was right to act as she did… here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:
Give me a break, they took 2 photos! Yes, flash should have been off, but come on. You take pics to look back on and remember your experiences. You can listen to the music and take photos, not that hard! I’ve been to a lot of concerts and a majority of people take pics!

IMO, it’s rude to block ANYONE’s ‘view’ while an artist is performing just to take a pic. No matter ticket cost. There’s plenty of chances at an event to get a “memory preserving” selfie w/o doing it during a song. It’s NOT rude for ANYONE to tell them NO.

She’s been in the business long enough to know and expect this but her nerves could be on edge because other performers have been hurt because of fans throwing stuff at the artists and the flash could have made it harder for her to see. She could have just snapped and lashed out.

I’m with @sunny.@WhoopiGoldberg the respect Miranda got is 750 bucks. She disrespected the rest of the audience for her ego. The girls were having fun. the stage is big, walk out of the shot would have been more appropriate then stopping the show. @mirandalambert
