Trey Gowdy blasts ‘failed candidate’ Kari Lake for spreading ‘not true’ claim about Ron DeSantis

Conservatives, who should be united more than ever to stop the progressive agenda, are seeing factions splinter off to wholeheartedly support either former President Donald Trump or Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and, what’s worse, those divisions seem to be sown on allegations that don’t “let the truth get in the way.”

The overzealous endorsements that some have proffered well before a Republican primary race has manifested were highlighted over the weekend by Fox News host and former Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) on “Sunday Night in America.” In particular, he focused on 2022 Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake’s backing of Trump that evidently led her to share a salacious story about DeSantis “that’s not true.”

Thursday, the firebrand former news anchor took to social media and shared a story titled “The Kiss of Death — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Endorsed by George Soros.”

In the post, the billionaire, dark money-funneling, all-around spooky dude can be heard speaking at the Munich Security Conference in Germany Thursday where he took shots against Trump as a “pitiful figure” and predicted DeSantis would ultimately be the Republican nominee.

“My hope for 2024 is that Trump and Governor DeSantis of Florida will slug it out for the Republican nomination. Trump has turned into a pitiful figure, continually mourning his loss in 2020. Big Republican donors are abandoning him in droves,” Soros claimed. “DeSantis is shrewd, ruthless, and ambitious. He is likely to be the Republican candidate.”

Gowdy spoke on this Sunday and said, “This attack was from a failed Republican gubernatorial candidate in Arizona. Three months ago, she thought Ron DeSantis was the best thing since sliced bread. Now she wants you to think that Governor DeSantis was endorsed by George Soros. Of course, that’s not true, but why let the truth get in the way.”

To the host’s point, the post got fact-checked on Twitter with a simple note that “Soros did not endorse Ron DeSantis” along with a link that included Soros’ comments detailed above.

Since the tweet was made, Lake has made no apparent comment on the matter, and it also isn’t known whether she was responsible for the post or if it was the action of an aide.

What is known is that she remains keen on rooting out corruption in politics whether that be through her efforts to see her election integrity lawsuit carried all the way to the Supreme Court if need be, or by pointing out UN ambassador Cindy McCain, the widow of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) was meeting with Soros at the conference this past week.

The same could not be said for DeSantis’ rapid response director Christina Pushaw who had a photoshopped image of her with Soros circulating the internet exposed by former Newsmax host John Cardillo who stood next to the spokeswoman in the original picture.
