Trump ads running on CNN, MS NOW amid fight over White House ban

Controversial advertisements featuring President Donald J. Trump are airing on CNN and MS NOW, two of the media organizations that he banned from the White House.

The “public service announcements” first hit the airwaves on Fox News last week and then again during Sunday’s NFL games broadcast by Fox as Democrats cried bloody murder over the spots that acknowledge that they are “paid for by the U.S. Government.”

One of the ads reemphasized Trump’s vow to never let America fall under the control of the communists, with another featuring a determined POTUS speaking of the “final battle” in which “we will demolish the Deep State, we will expel the warmongers from our government, we will drive out the globalists.”

The 30-second ads have now expanded beyond Fox to the two anti-Trump cable networks, rubbing salt into critics’ wounds.

According to a report by The Washington Post’s media critic Scott Nover, variations of the Trump ads are running on CNN and MS NOW in multiple major media markets, including the Democrat stronghold of Los Angeles.

Citing data from advertising intelligence company AdImpact, Nover reported that the anti-communist spot “The Country He Loves” aired for MS NOW and CNN viewers in L.A. and also in Albany, NY.

The “Final Battle” ad, which features the stern-looking president’s message about the “Deep State,” “warmongers” and “globalists,” also aired in the Los Angeles market on CNN and MS NOW, with the rebranded MSNBC also airing it in the deep blue markets of New York, Philadelphia and Washington.

“The Trump administration made the bulk of its ad spend on CBS, FOX, NBC, ABC and Fox News — where it has bought thousands of ad placements in the past week. But the inclusion of MS NOW, on which it bought 38 ads, and CNN, where it bought 10 ads, according to AdImpact, are notable because of Trump’s ongoing battle to bar the networks from the White House,” the WaPo media reporter wrote.

On Sept. 18, Trump escalated his ongoing battles with the “fake news” when he announced that CNN, MS NOW and Politico were banned from the White House in a Truth Social post that sent Democrats and the media into an apoplectic fit.

The restrictions – which the administration sought to justify based on national security – were at least temporarily blocked by a federal judge after the three organizations filed a lawsuit on First Amendment grounds.

Media outlets have decried the ban as unconstitutional, and it has sparked a boycott by the White House press pool, which includes CNN.

According to Nover, the self-proclaimed “most trusted name in news” declined to comment on the ads, with MS NOW trying to spin airing them to promote itself.

“We know the size, engagement, and influence of the MS NOW audience, and apparently the White House does, too. The decision to spend taxpayer dollars to reach our audience speaks for itself. Like all paid advertising on MS NOW, this spot was subject to an established review process by the sales team. Accepting an advertisement is not an endorsement of its message, and purchasing airtime will never purchase favorable coverage. Our journalists have already reported on the serious questions surrounding these advertisements, and we will continue doing exactly that,” network spokesperson Richard Hudock said in a statement.

The White House also “declined to comment on the specific ad spends, but wrote in a statement that the ‘public service announcements are about reminding Americans to love their country and understand what makes it worth defending, at home, at our borders, and abroad,’” Nover reported.
