A conservative commentator looked beyond the “embarrassing” failure of an America 250 celebration to what it really says about the “current lack of patriotism” in the nation.
“This should have been a massive, raucous celebration…”
Last week, the sudden announcement of a roster of entertainers slated to perform in Washington, D.C., to celebrate America’s 250th birthday was quickly quashed as a majority of those named publicly backed out. After President Donald Trump announced his intention to shift gears and show up as the headline of an “AMERICA IS BACK Rally,” The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh spoke up about how “pissed” the “bungled America 250” made him.
Following a series of posts over the weekend, Walsh made “Everything Wrong With The America 205 Celebrations” the focus of his podcast Monday, where he asserted “…the administration’s plan to honor the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the birth of this country, by any measure, has fallen apart in spectacular fashion.”
“I mean, it’s hardly been an affair at all. It’s basically not happening. There is very little excitement for it,” he argued, along with saying, “…there has never been a failure of this type that is this embarrassing in the history of the United States.”

Prior to the installment of “The Matt Walsh Show,” Trump posted to Truth Social how, “I understand Artists are getting ‘the yips’ having to do with their performance on Wednesday, so I am thinking about bringing the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World, the man who gets much larger audiences than Elvis in his prime, and he does so without a guitar, the man who loves our Country more than anyone else, and the man who some say is the Greatest President in History (THE GOAT!), DONALD J. TRUMP, to take the place of these highly paid, Third Rate ‘Artists,’ and give a major speech, rallying the Country forward like I have done ever since being President!”
In response, Walsh wrote on X, “First they tried to invite Milli Vanilli and a bunch of other absurdly washed up geriatric one hit wonders. Then when that didn’t work they decided to convert the event into a Trump rally where Trump will talk about himself for 90 minutes.”
“This should have been a massive, raucous celebration of the country and its 250 year history. Now it will be a political rally identical to the ten million other ones we’ve already seen,” he added.
I’m actually pretty pissed at how badly they’ve bungled America 250. First they tried to invite Milli Vanilli and a bunch of other absurdly washed up geriatric one hit wonders. Then when that didn’t work they decided to convert the event into a Trump rally where Trump will talk… https://t.co/lYo2jUWOLy

During the episode, Walsh referenced MS NOW’s Ali Velshi, who spoke of his own “deep unease” about marking the occasion, asserting the talking head has “no loyalty or love for this country at all” amid a broader point that such sentiments were arguably increasingly rare throughout the country.
Seeking to diagnose the root cause, the commentator made the case that, “One of the big reasons for the current lack of patriotism and pride in our nation’s history is that about 40 years ago our most prominent storytellers in Hollywood just basically stopped telling stories about American history altogether, unless it had something to do with WW2, civil rights, or slavery. I mean, they just released a movie about the meteorologist who did the weather report for D-Day. They’ll give WW2 weathermen their own movies before they tell a story from any other era of American history.”
As Walsh called for “R-rated adult-oriented American history stories” as “the place to start” for conservatives to “reclaim the culture,” he wasn’t alone in anticipating a lackluster celebration for the semiquincentennial.

Agreed, we are truly watching the final falling of a once great nation. We came into just before the crumbling ruins began.

Also, our government hasn’t really been something to be patriotic or proud about in about 40 years

History explored along its proper timeline reveals heroes in every age.
History explored in reverse turns every age’s heroes into monsters.
There are an increasing number of people who cannot imagine what the world was like before and can only project from what it is like now.

The best celebrations will be in small towns dotting the landscape of our beautiful country. Places the elites have never heard of and merely fly over. Find a local event and tune out the noise.
