President Donald Trump celebrated an early Columbus Day with a saucy post trashing radical leftists bent on erasing American history.
On Sunday, the president published a Truth Social post aimed at the years of protests and statue toppling, and celebrating the Italian American community.
Look:
HAPPY COLUMBUS DAY TO ALL, in particular our great Italian American Community which was forced to suffer as the Radical Left Dumocrats, Socialists, and Communists rampaged through our cities and towns ripping down almost all of the beautiful statues of Christopher Columbus. Well, those days of plunder are over, and the statues are back, more magnificent than ever. This is a big day for our great Italian American Community, and the Country of Italy itself, maybe the biggest. Congratulations! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Last year, the president signed a proclamation that would make October 13 (now designated Oct. 12) a day of honor for Columbus, despite years of states and cities pushing to recognize Indigenous Peoples’ Day as a parallel celebration. Such a day paints Columbus as a colonizer whose actions sparked years of violence against the native people of the land, and argues that Leif Erikson actually “discovered” North America long before Columbus ever set foot on the continent.
During a Rose Garden ceremony where a statue of the explorer was added to the grounds, Trump couldn’t help but toot his own horn.
“I resurrected Christopher Columbus,” he said last week. “He’s been rehabbed 100 percent, and he’s been resurrected in the true sense. He’s back to where he should be.”
He also ordered the cleanup and repair of the Christopher Columbus Memorial Fountain in DC’s Union Station, which stands near the US Capitol. It had been sitting in disrepair since 2007 and quickly became a target of the president’s beautification efforts, as he continues to maintain and improve locations that have gone neglected under previous administrations.
