New York Times writer calls for Trump’s impeachment — and says ‘open racism’ is the reason

A Gray Lady opinion columnist known for inflammatory hyperbole regarding the Trump administration leveled an impeachment-worthy charge against the chief executive.

From the campaign trail to his White House return and ever since, President Donald Trump has made restoring national sovereignty a cornerstone promise. As gang violence raged in Minnesota, on top of billions of dollars worth of fraud, a call for the citizens to “fight back” found The New York Times’ Jamelle Bouie insisting on a show impeachment over alleged “open racist demagoguery.”

Last week, as reports of Somali gang violence included gunfire at a high school homecoming football game days before the FBI arrested the son of Somali nationals for allegedly plotting a terror attack on the Mall of America, Trump assured the federal government would step in to help restore order if called on.

Having asserted the state was “being taken over by Somali Immigrants,” Bouie injected racism into the president’s message, concluding that Trump was imploring “presumably white people of Minnesota to rise up.”

“When you’re the most powerful person in the world, every utterance really matters. Every utterance shapes the public culture of the United States, it shapes the world,” said the columnist who compared Trump to segregationist Democrats of the past like Alabama Gov. George Wallace and President Woodrow Wilson. “And so the president engaging in open racist demagoguery, in trying to incite race riots, that’s an impeachable offense. That’s something for which a president should be removed.”

As had been reported, the chief executive took to Truth Social in response to Somali gang violence and wrote, “The once Great State of Minnesota is being taken over by Somali Immigrants. There is Violence, Murder, and Mayhem all over the State. The people of Minnesota must fight back. You have been robbed, and abandoned by your State Government. Your Governor is an incompetent thief who doesn’t want to get involved.”

Of outgoing Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), Trump added, “He just wants to get out of town with as much as he can steal, and then, lead a quiet life. The Somalians should not be allowed to get away with what they are doing. They view you as weak and stupid people. Fight back Minnesota, fight back! If you need, the Federal Government will come to your rescue.”

Previously, Bouie linked Vice President J.D. Vance to a Nazi slogan in a column headlined “JD Vance’s Blood-and-Soil Nationalism Finds Its Target,” while he was recently alleged to have fantasized “about committing violence against writers he doesn’t like” after reacting to a post from journalist Michael Tracey about how, “in a just world someone would stone cold stun these guys into concrete.”

Knowing conviction and removal from office would be unlikely, describing the threshold against partisan impeachment as a “failure of our political system,” Bouie insisted it was important to make the statement anyway.

The columnist, who echoed his call for impeachment in his Saturday piece, concluded he had no interest in hearing the opinion of anyone who disagreed with his view that “the orange man is very bad.”
