President Donald Trump ripped California’s elections as a “fraud,” triggering Gov. Gavin Newsom to respond by calling him names.
The long-running war of words between the president and California’s Democratic governor continues as Newsom posted a response to Trump’s comments about the state’s elections as primaries enter the final stretch.
In an interview with his daughter-in-law on Fox News, the president spoke about rooting out fraud in the nation before mentioning voting procedures in the Golden State, reiterating his view that mail-in voting is “rigged.”

“I think we can balance our budget and JD is doing a great job with his team,” the president said on “My View with Lara Trump,” referring to Vice President J.D. Vance, whom he appointed as the administration’s “Fraud Czar.”
“And they caught already hundreds of billions of dollars of fraud, and they haven’t even gotten to California yet,” Trump said. “California’s very fraud, the whole thing is a fraud. The whole deal, their elections are a fraud, their mail-in votes are a fraud.”
In response to the clip of the interview posted on X, Newsom’s press office account wrote, “No,” adding, “You’re just a loser.”
In another post, the governor warned that Trump was “actively lying” ahead of the primary election on Tuesday, prompting some X users to call out the Democrat for his own misinformation.
“Trump is actively lying to Americans. Again,” Newsom wrote on X. “This time it’s to keep you from voting. Don’t believe him.”
