Trump makes his pick in the fight for Graham’s replacement

On Monday, President Donald Trump announced his suggestion for Senator Lindsey Graham’s successor.

Graham’s sudden death shocked the political world and threw the state of South Carolina for a loop. As those closest to him come to terms with the loss, Trump came up with a “wonderful” way to pay tribute to the late lawmaker.

“I recommended, to Governor Henry McMaster, Lindsey Graham’s wonderful sister, Darline, to serve as interim Senator from the Great State of South Carolina. This would be a fabulous tribute to Lindsey, who loved her dearly!” Trump wrote on Truth Social Monday morning.

Sen. Tim Scott, R-South Carolina, voiced his approval of the idea in an X post.

“Lindsey Graham’s sister, Darline Graham Nordone, would be a fantastic pick to serve out the remainder of the senate term. After speaking with Darline, there is no one better who understands Lindsey’s love for family, our state, and our country,” he said.

McMaster will appoint Graham’s replacement at 4p.m. EST on Monday, and it’s unclear if he is taking Trump’s opinion under advisement.
