Former first lady Melania Trump has kept a low profile since leaving the White House with her lack of visibility fueling conspiracy theories and gossip from the media and her husband, GOP frontrunner Donald J. Trump, opened up about the “mystery” of his glamourous wife.
The former president sat down with conservative commentator Megyn Kelly for a wide-ranging interview that aired on Thursday’s edition of “The Megyn Kelly Show” on SiriusXM and during their conversation, Trump discussed his spouse and their teenage son Barron.
“She’s doing very well,” he said when asked about Melania by Kelly. “She’s very strong, very even-keeled, and she’s a very good woman as you know.”

“She was a very popular first lady,” he added. “I mean, I’d go out to rallies, and they have pictures of Melania with ‘We love our first lady,’ Trump added of posters seen in the audience at his rallies.
“Melania’s so mysterious to so many,” Kelly asked. “What do people misunderstand about her?”
“I think part of the beauty is that mystery,” Trump said, recalling a conversation with legendary journalist Barbara Walters who he said told him that the one interview that she most wanted to do was with reclusive actress Greta Garbo, to whom he compared his wife of two decades.
“She was a great actress… she had a great beauty, but she was very reclusive, never did an interview,” the former president said. “I don’t see Melania as like that, but she is much more… you know she’s introspective, and she’s confident,” adding that she doesn’t need to be interviewed “to be ripped apart for no reason. She doesn’t need to be out there. She’s got confidence, she’s got a lot of self-confidence.”
“The people really like her,” he added. “And she was a really good first lady,” noting the “beautiful job” that she did with the White House Rose Garden. “She rebuilt the Rose Garden, it was beautiful,” adding that she “did Christmas trees too, every Christmas, did the most beautiful job,” as the two recalled how the media dumped on her for the holiday decorations.
When the couple’s 17-year-old son Barron came up, the proud father said that he was doing “really well” and was a “very good athlete,” who excelled at sports and scholastics.
“Barron’s very tall,” saying that he’s about six feet, eight inches, “And, and he’s a good kid. He’s a good looking kid. He’s a good student, great student actually, very good student,” adding that they’re thinking about college now.
Trump and Kelly also discussed how Melania was slighted for the cover of Vogue magazine which just featured the very unglamorous historic first black lesbian immigrant, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
“Keep your feet planted on the ground and your spine stiff.” That was the advice of Karine Jean-Pierre’s friend and predecessor Jen Psaki when, in May 2022, Jean-Pierre assumed the role of White House press secretary. Since then, she’s made history. https://t.co/0Er2nO6Uai

‘It’s so sad, but she doesn’t care, she’s been on the cover of the magazines for a long time, and she was on the cover of Vogue before,” Trump said.
