Former President Donald J. Trump punched back at Chris Christie after the former New Jersey governor trashed him on Fox News over the weekend, ridiculing his horrendous poll numbers and recalling his last failed presidential campaign when he was “run out” of New Hampshire during the 2016 primaries.
The media’s love for the blustering 2024 GOP hopeful – who has been a constant presence on Sunday morning and cable news shows since he declared his candidacy last month – hasn’t moved the needle with voters who aren’t impressed with his one-issue platform of Trump-bashing and his notoriously short temper is already showing signs of fraying.
For the most part, Trump has refrained from engaging with him outside of poking fun at his former ally with the occasional fat joke but on Wednesday, he took to his Truth Social platform to counter Christie’s accusation that he lied about the border wall and to jab him over his miserable polling.
“Sloppy Chris Christie, who is polling at 1% and left his State, New Jersey, with an Approval Rating of 9% (the WORST number in State History), was interviewed on FoxNews (of course!) and stated that I only built 47 miles of Border Wall, knowing that the actual number is 463 Miles, as reported by the Department of Homeland Security,” Trump said. “This does not include many Miles that we fixed or renovated, or areas that I got Mexico to secure. BEST BORDER EVER! He also lied about Russia & many other subjects!”

Trump didn’t let up in a second post, ripping Christie as an irrelevant loser who was unfit to be a member of his administration.
“Sloppy Chris Christie is thrashing about, doing and saying anything to stay relevant. He desperately wanted to join the Trump Administration, but I said ‘NO!’ In 2016, he spent most of his time away from New Jersey in order to campaign for President, much like Ron DeSanctimonious is doing now to Florida. Chris ended up getting run out of New Hampshire, where he had almost no vote or popularity. They knew him well – CHRIS CHRISTIE IS A TOTAL LOSER!” Trump wrote.

The current frontrunner who is mauling the rest of the field was referring to Christie’s interview with Shannon Bream on “Fox News Sunday” in which he accused him of being a liar, a Putin puppet and for good measure, claimed that the crowd size of his massive South Carolina rally was vastly overstated.

Christie reacted by taking to Twitter to challenge Trump to put his money where his mouth is by going mano-a-mano with him on a debate stage.
“Donald Trump, the king of keyboard warriors. Donny, you got so much to say, why don’t you say it directly to my face on the debate stage? Or are you a coward?” Christie wrote, trying to bait Trump.

While the media has been salivating for the head-to-head matchup of the two bombastic Republicans, it’s looking like a fat chance with Trump running away with the nomination and not likely to risk a nationally televised ambush from the ABC News gasbag and desperate former hires Mike Pence and Nikki Haley on a debate stage.
