Trump says he’ll sit down for interview with Elon Musk

Former President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that we will be sitting down with Elon Musk for an interview that many online predicted could break the Internet.

“ON MONDAY NIGHT I’LL BE DOING A MAJOR INTERVIEW WITH ELON MUSK — Details to follow,” Trump posted on his Truth Social website.

The announcement comes after Musk responded to the attempt on Trump’s life last month by a would-be assassin by publicly endorsing the 2024 Republican presidential nominee, remarking on the courage Trump displayed in that moment.

“I think there’s something to be said that, you know, America needs a strong leader and that we have the perception of strength,” Musk said of the failed assassination. “Now, you have to admire that Trump. after getting shot, with blood streaming down his face, it could have been a second shooter, who knows? Nonetheless, you know, with fist-pumping, ‘fight, fight’ after being shot… he’s brave. He has courage. This is instinctual courage. It’s not calculated, it’s not some arranged event. It’s in the moment… it’s true courage in the moment.”

Musk went on to say that “tough cookies” like China and Russia “will think twice about messing with Trump. Yes, they’ll think twice.”

The admiration is mutual, as seen in Trump’s remarks while speaking at the Kennedy Space Center in May 2020.

“I especially want to congratulate someone who truly embodies the American ethos of big thinking and risk-taking,” Trump said. “After achieving success as an Internet entrepreneur, he could have spent his fortune doing anything, including yachting, lots of things. He could do lots of things. But in 2002, he began pouring tens of millions of dollars of his own money into research and development for a new rocket. He’s a little different than a lot of other people. He likes rockets. He assembled a crew of some of the greatest minds and talent in American aerospace.”

In the years since, SpaceX has become the first private company to develop and successfully launch its own rocket into orbit, the first to launch and recover its own capsule, and of course, moments ago, Space X became the first private company to put humans into orbit around the Earth,” he added.

As noted above, the initial reaction to the news suggested a possible “meltdown” of the web:

It will be hard for the media, which is currently tasked with hoisting up Vice President Kamala Harris as a worthy presidential opponent, to ignore an interview featuring two of the greatest personalities of our time. Then again, don’t sell the industry short on how far they are willing to go to influence the outcome in November.
