President Donald J. Trump has spent his first week in office churning out executive orders to reverse the damage done to the country by Joe Biden and the Democratic Party with the latest reportedly being one that will boost school choice.
On Wednesday, the nation’s 47th president is set to sign the executive order that would free up government funding for school choice programs, an issue of much importance to conservatives as the nation’s public education system has been hijacked by left-wing ideologues and groomers.
The executive order was first reported by CBS News which claims that it obtained a copy of the document that states “directs the Department of Education to prioritize school choice programs through its discretionary grant programs, and orders the Department of Health and Human Services to issue guidance on how states receiving block grants for families and children can use those funds to support private and faith-based institutions.”

Trump’s order will also reportedly direct newly sworn-in Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth to submit a plan to the president on how military families can use Defense Department money to send their children to schools of their own choice.
According to the outlet, the executive order will also direct the Department of Education to “issue guidance to states on how to use federal funding formulas — which determine how much money to allocate to districts and schools — to support their K-12 scholarship programs.”
CBS News reported that Trump’s executive order comes in advance of the National Assessment of Education Progress for 2024 which is expected to reveal that 40% of 4th graders didn’t meet basic reading levels, the highest percentage ever. According to the outlet, the new data which is set to be released at midnight on Wednesday “will also show 4th and 8th grade average reading scores have continued a downward trend, each down two points from 2022. According to the NAEP, 70% of 8th graders weren’t proficient in reading and 72% weren’t proficient in math.”
“When I am reelected, I will do everything I can to support parents who make the courageous choice of homeschool,” Trump pledged in September 2023. “To every homeschool family, I will be your champion.”
Trump also pledged, “to protect the God-given right of every parent to be the steward of their children’s education.”
“Every child deserves the best education available, regardless of their zip code,” the White House document reads, according to CBS News. “However, for generations, our government-assigned education system has failed millions of parents, students, and teachers. This executive order begins to rectify that wrong by opening up opportunities for students to attend the school that best fits their needs.”
In a Tuesday post to Truth Social, Trump expressed his support for Tennessee Republicans who are working to get school choice passed in the Volunteer State.
“Congratulations to Tennessee Legislators who are working hard to pass School Choice this week, which I totally support. We will very soon be sending Education BACK TO THE STATES, where it belongs. It is our goal to bring Education in the United States to the highest level, one that it has never attained before. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump wrote.
