The former president announced he was ready to send a clear message “on day one or sooner” should he win with a first phone call to get the border in check.
Making his way across Michigan, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina Monday for the final rallies of the 2024 election, former President Donald Trump had more to say about tariffs to keep foreign trade partners in check. In fact, while speaking in Raleigh, North Carolina, he revealed a plan to put a stop to the illegal alien crisis with a call to recently-elected Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.
“I haven’t met her, and I’m gonna inform her on day one or sooner, that if they don’t stop this onslaught of criminals and drugs coming into our country, I’m going to immediately impose a 25% tariff on everything they send into the United States of America,” explained Trump.

Reminding the crowd about the thousands of violent criminals and the massive amounts of deadly fentanyl that had been permitted to cross into the country under the Biden-Harris administration, the president went on, “If that doesn’t work, I’ll make it 50, and if that doesn’t work, I’ll make it 75 for the tough guys. Then I’ll make it 100.”
He also explained to the crowd of supporters that he had waited to reveal part of his plan to tackle the crisis until the day before the election because he didn’t want Vice President Kamala Harris, “a low IQ individual,” to steal his policy as she had already ripped off other proposals like no tax on tips.
“They wanted $3 billion to meet,” explained Trump as he mentioned how Mexico had become the nation’s largest trading partner. “They wouldn’t have said that with me. I would have said, oh really, you want $3 billion to meet? I’d do the opposite. If you don’t give us $3 billion, I’ll impose the biggest frickin’ tariff.”
The president suggested that he would make clear the need for Mexico to “stop letting people come in through our border, and come in through your southern border, and you stop it.”
A group of Republican senators, Mike Lee of Utah, Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, and Roger Marshall of Kansas, recently called on impeached Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to reinstate Trump’s Remain-in-Mexico policy and the COVID-era Title 42 to expedite deportations as another threat from illegal aliens mounted.
They noted that between 2022 and 2023, a 16% rise in tuberculosis cases had been reported as the nations most heavily represented among foreign nationals crossing into the United States all had higher rates of TB than America.
“Due to your negligence and refusal to enforce our current laws, tuberculosis (TB) is rapidly spreading through the millions of unscreened illegal immigrants released into the interior of the United States, putting American lives and health at severe risk,” they said as they sought answers on screenings and more by Nov. 13, 2024.
