Former President Donald Trump fired back at former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) over assertions about his diet she made in her upcoming new book.
Trump targeted “Crazy Liz Cheney” in a Truth Social post on Sunday, calling out the former vice chair of the Jan. 6 select committee for suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome” after claims from her memoir recount how he was reportedly “depressed” and not eating after the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol.
Trump made it clear he was anything but what his RINO critic shared in her book, “Oath and Honor.”
Cheney recounted a conversation she allegedly had with then-Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) who reportedly told her that he had visited Trump at his Florida home because he was depressed and had stopped eating.
“Crazy Liz Cheney, who suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome at a level rarely seen before, writes in her boring new book that Kev[i]n McCarthy said he came to Mar-a-Lago after the RIGGED election because, ‘the former president was depressed and not eating,’” Trump began in his scathing post.

“That statement is not true. I was not depressed, I WAS ANGRY, and it was not that I was not eating, it was that I was eating too much,” the former president countered.
Cheney ripped McCarthy for his trip to Mar-a-Lago just a few short weeks after the January 6 riot, calling him out on it as she asserts in the book in which she called her other GOP colleagues “enablers and collaborators” who were “willing to violate their oath to the Constitution out of political expediency and loyalty to Donald Trump.”
McCarthy defended himself, according to Cheney, by asserting that he was asked to visit Trump by his “very worried” staff.
“Trump’s not eating, so they asked me to come see him,” McCarthy allegedly told Cheney, according to her book, adding that the former president was “really depressed.”

A spokesperson for McCarthy told CNN, “For Cheney, first it was Trump Derangement Syndrome, and now apparently it’s also McCarthy Derangement Syndrome.”
Trump continued his Truth Social post, lambasting Cheney as he contrasted her election loss and McCarthy’s “good intentions.”
“But that’s not why Kev[i]n McCarthy was there. He was at Mar-a-Lago to get my support, and to bring the Republican Party together – Only good intentions,” he wrote.
“Liz Cheney, on the other hand, went on to lose her seat in Congress by the largest margin for a sitting Congressperson in the history of the U.S. She then worked with others on the J6 Committee to delete and destroy the evidence and findings of the committee,” he concluded.
Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung responded to reports about the Cheney book by saying it belongs “in the fiction section” of bookstores – or worse.
“Liz Cheney is a loser who is now lying in order to sell a book that either belongs in the discount bargain bin in the fiction section of the bookstore or should be repurposed as toilet paper,” he said.
“These are nothing more than completely fabricated stories because President Trump is the clear front-runner to be the Republican nominee and the strongest candidate to beat Crooked Joe Biden,” he added.
