Former President Donald Trump lives in a world where much of the media industry believes it’s their moral duty to oppose his candidacy and actively engage in electioneering on behalf of Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.
This can be seen in a recent Media Research Center study that found the major networks ABC, CBS, and NBC have delivered the most “lopsided” election coverage in history, with 78% positive coverage of Kamala Harris and 85% negative coverage of Trump.
The one major cable news network apt to give the 2024 Republican nominee a somewhat fair shake is Fox News, but the network’s stand-alone fixation on being “fair and balanced” irks Trump, as seen in a Truth Social post he shared on Monday.
“FoxNews spends far too much time promoting the Democrats, their surrogates, and their agenda,” he wrote. “Today I watched, over and over again, an angry and totally out of control Michelle Obama trying to save the dying Campaign of Comrade Kamala Harris. I’m leading in Michigan, by a lot, because of great support from Autoworkers, Arab Americans, Jewish Americans, and all other Patriots – But Fox refuses to put up those Polls.”
“Fox also plays more negative commercials and ads promoting the other side than is even imaginable – Our ads on FoxNews are always a big deal to negotiate (They want us to change and weaken our content!), but we put them up on CNN and MSDNC with no problems or changes,” Trump continued. “It’s hard to believe I’m leading by so much!”
There is little question that Trump is the most persecuted American in modern history and fights a unique fight where allies are few and far between while he takes on the entire DC political class, including the media and any number of three-letter government agencies on Capitol Hill.
Realistic or not, the former president looks to Fox News, the one major network with a conservative flair, to counter the outright bias employed against him by the network’s competitors.
This was apparent during an appearance on Fox & Friends earlier this month when Trump spoke about confronting owner Rupert Murdoch.
“I’m gonna tell him something very simple because I can’t talk to anybody else about it: Don’t put on negative commercials for 21 days, don’t put them,” he said. “And don’t put on the air their horrible people. They come and lie. I’m going to say, ‘Rupert, please do it this way.’ And then we’re going to have a victory because I think everyone wants that.”
