Marking four weeks until the midterm elections amid a packed schedule hopscotching across the nation for rallies and events, President Donald Trump traveled to Baltimore, Maryland, on Tuesday, where one announcement was overshadowed with suspense-building. As the commander-in-chief addressed a nearly $4 billion investment from Anduril toward building nuclear-powered submarine parts at the Sparrows Point Shipyard, he also teased “big surprises” on the horizon.
Specifically, as he offered shoutouts to those who aided in making the Sparrows Point project possible, the chief executive turned to Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought.
“We have some big surprises coming up in another few weeks, right Russ?” said the president. “He’s gonna be one of the very important people in the history of our country, in my opinion. He’s got some great things happening.”
The shipyard wasn’t the only place where Trump spoke to “surprises,” as a Truth Social post published earlier Tuesday raised the midterm elections and hinted at when an announcement could be made.
“My Rally crowds and enthusiasm are unbelievable! Nobody has ever seen anything like it. We are flipping races all over the place. The Fake News knows it, but they don’t want to be truthful with their viewers. It’s all happening!” wrote the president. “The Dumocrats never counted on this. Thanks … to the great Networks that are covering the Rallies in full. They are being rewarded with BIG RATINGS. Watch for the ‘Midterm Surprise!'”
It is known that Vought has drawn the ire of Democrats and RINOs alike, recently earning criticism from Maine Sen. Susan Collins (R) after the White House announced over $800 million in congressionally approved funding would be canceled via pocket rescissions to cut wasteful spending.
Of course, the mere mention of Vought is enough to set snowflakes into meltdown after all the panic porn surrounding The Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025. Vought, the founder of the Center for Renewing America, is credited as a primary architect of the think tank initiative.
As November 3 draws nearer, a prevailing narrative from the left has included suggestions that Republicans and the administration are intent on “stealing” the election. While some have griped over efforts to clean voter rolls of ineligible registrants, others, like actor and activist Mark Ruffalo, have gone to extremes with fearmongering over potential cybersecurity threats to voting machines while contending that Elon Musk could pose a risk. To that notion, the world’s richest man reacted with laughing emojis.
Wednesday, the president is expected to travel to the Lone Star State to rally with Senate nominee Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and others.
