Trump: ‘There will be voter ID for midterm elections’ – with or without Congress

Setting the stakes should the “demented and evil” Democrats and their ilk take back federal control, President Donald Trump made a vow about voter ID ahead of reaching a key Senate threshold.

Few legislative efforts have so encapsulated the disconnect between the will of the people and the actions of their supposed representatives like the fight for election integrity. Friday, as Democrats continued to oppose the SAVE America Act even while acknowledging its overwhelming bipartisan support among constituents, the president teased executive action should the left continue to impede “what our Founders desired” ahead of the 2026 midterms.

Heading into the weekend, Trump took to Truth Social and stated, “The Democrats refuse to vote for Voter I.D., or Citizenship. The reason is very simple — They want to continue to cheat in Elections. This was not what our Founders desired. I have searched the depths of Legal Arguments not yet articulated or vetted on this subject, and will be presenting an irrefutable one in the very near future.”

“There will be Voter I.D. for the Midterm Elections, whether approved by Congress or not! Also, the People of our Country are insisting on Citizenship, and No Mail-In Ballots, with exceptions for Military, Disability, Illness, or Travel,” the chief executive added.

Shortly thereafter, the president followed with another post that began, “We cannot let the Democrats get away with NO VOTED I.D. any longer. These are horrible, disingenuous CHEATERS. They have all sorts of reasons why it shouldn’t be passed, and then boldly laugh in the backrooms after their ridiculous presentations. If it weren’t such a serious matter, it would be considered a TOTAL JOKE!”

He contended the lack of voter ID was “crazier, and more ridiculous” than gender ideology and its impact on sports, as well as globalist open border policies.

Trump further slammed the absurd Jim Crow 2.0 argument from Democrats before promising a forthcoming executive order laying out, “If we can’t get it through Congress, there are Legal reasons why this SCAM is not permitted.” Invoking the Supreme Court and its ongoing review of the legality of his use of tariffs and other cases, the president warned future Democrat control in Washington, D.C. would mean adding states to the union to increase their control with more senators, a packed Supreme Court and termination of the filibuster.

“Our Country will never be the same if they allow these demented and evil people to knowingly, and happily, destroy it,” asserted the president.

In addition to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) repeated claim that voter ID would amount to Jim Crow 2.0, leftist talking heads on corporate media had attempted to echo the same tired talking point, only to run into a reality check stumbling block.

Efforts to advance the notion that the proposed election integrity legislation would somehow “disenfranchise” black voters, a CNN panel was flummoxed by senior political commentator Scott Jennings as he asked the simple question over and over, “how.”

“You’ve yet to lay out how,” he’d said, adding, “76% of black voters think we should show an ID to vote … are you saying black voters don’t know what’s good for them? Feels pretty condescending to me!”

Meanwhile, having been maintaining a running tally of GOP support in the Senate, Utah Sen. Mike Lee (R) announced Friday afternoon that the addition of Maine Sen. Susan Collins (R) to those in favor of the bill meant the SAVE America Act had reached the necessary 50 vote threshold to “pass a motion to proceed to the House-passed bill–even without any additional votes–with [Vice President J.D. Vance] breaking the tie.”
