Trump to do ‘play by play’ of VP debate

Former President Donald Trump certainly knows how to command attention and on that note, he announced Monday that he will do a “personal play-by-play” of the vice presidential debate Tuesday evening.

“I will be doing a personal PLAY BY PLAY of the Debate tomorrow between the Brilliant J.D. Vance and the Highly Inarticulate ‘Tampon’ Tim Walz,” the Republican nominee wrote on Truth Social.

“I hope that Cognitively Challenged, Lyin’ Kamala Harris, will be listening so that she can again show the World how she will make up false facts and stories in order to change around an administrative FAILURE!” Trump continued. “In any event, I will be commenting on what is going on. Watch TRUTH SOCIAL tomorrow night!”

Trump’s veep selection, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), will square off with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), who was tapped by Democratic nominee Kamala Harris as her running mate, Tuesday night in New York City.

The debate will be hosted by CBS News, with “CBS Evening News” anchor Norah O’Donnell and “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan being the moderators — which means Vance will have his hands full. The debate will air live at 9 p.m. EDT and run for 90 minutes with two four-minute breaks.

Fox News took note of CBS News’ “long shadow of anti-Trump bias,” to suggest, “The network’s past coverage suggests Vance, like Trump, may enter a one-against-three political showdown.”

Citing Trump’s exchange with “60 Minutes” veteran Lesley Stahl, who gleefully dismissed the Hunter Biden laptop scandal, just days before the election as “perhaps the greatest example of CBS News’ liberal bias,” Fox News also pointed out that the network was caught in September 2023 “editing an unflattering exchange Harris had with Brennan” about President Biden’s age being a factor in the upcoming election.

The article also noted that Brennan “got testy with Vance” during his late June appearance on Face the Nation — this was before Trump tapped the senator as his running mate.

Some on social media encouraged Trump to do the “play by play” on Elon Musk’s free speech platform X, which would ensure a bigger audience. Either way, his input is sure to add to the dramatic flair of the event.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
