Trump unloads on ‘lowlife’ Van Jones, who he says tearfully ‘begged’ him for help, never thanked him

Former President Donald Trump ripped into CNN’s Van Jones after the political commentator praised Vice President Kamala Harris and her radical economic policies.

Jones, who once served as then-President Obama’s special advisor for green jobs, has at times credited Trump and spoken favorably of him but, as a rabid Democrat, fell in line to support Harris and her agenda.

“Thank goodness we’re finally hearing from a Democrat aggressively on price gouging,” he told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer last week after Harris unveiled economic proposals that could cost up to $1.7 trillion to implement.

“Democrats have no problem dragging in technology CEOs, grilling them, you know, going after them … but most Americans don’t have a problem with technology CEOs. It’s these grocery stores ripping people off, the big grocers,” Jones said, claiming the Democratic nominee “feels comfortable” talking about the high prices because of her “strength” and “politics of joy.”

“She knows that Americans are getting ripped off, and she wants to do something about it,” he said.

“If you think things are expensive now, they will get 100 times WORSE if Kamala gets four years as President,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, attacking Harris’ plan.

On Sunday, he targeted Jones for his praise of Harris and reminded him what his administration had accomplished for the black community.

“Lightweight Political commentator Van Jones begged me, while in the Oval Office and with tears flowing from his eyes, to help get Criminal Justice Reform approved by the United States Senate,” Trump wrote in a post that included a screenshot from a “Catturd” post on X.

“I got it done, with Conservative help, and this lowlife, Jones, never once called to thank me, or the others that helped, for what we had done,” Trump said, referring to the highly praised, bipartisan First Step Act passed into law in 2018.

“Along with Opportunity Zones, the long term funding of HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES, and much more, I’ve done more for our black population than anyone other than, perhaps, Abraham Lincoln!!! Sorry, but that’s the way it is!!!” he concluded.

Amid the run for the White House in 2020, Jones had told CNN host Jake Tapper: “I think it’s really unfortunate, because Donald Trump, and I get beat up by liberals every time I say this, but I’m going to keep saying it. He has done good stuff for the black community.”

“And you know, upping his own stuff, black college stuff, I worked with him on criminal justice stuff. I saw Donald Trump have African American people formerly incarcerated in the White House, embraced them, treated them well. There’s a side to Donald Trump that I think he does not get enough credit for,” he added at the time, though he did go on to blame the lack of credit on Trump’s own behavior.

Meanwhile, social media users weighed in on Trump’s criticism of Jones after his praise of Harris.
