Trump’s week 5 recap

President Donald Trump sailed through his first month in office at breakneck speed, issuing executive orders, announcing policies, and meeting with world and business leaders.

The president’s fifth week in office ended with another slew of political victories both here in the U.S. and abroad. Following is a recap of some of the accomplishments of his administration that have impressed even some of his critics.

No More BS Regulations

Domestically, the president signed an executive order directing federal agencies to work with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to find and rescind or modify any regulations that belie the administration’s tough but fair policies.

“Agencies shall utilize enforcement discretion to de-prioritize enforcement actions that stretch statutory authority or exceed the constitutional powers of the Federal Government,” a White House fact sheet reads.

“The Order exempts, among other things, any action respecting a military, national security, homeland security, foreign affairs, or immigration-related function of the United States,” it continues.

No More Illegal Alien Welfare

Trump also signed an executive order effectively ending the taxpayer funding of illegal aliens.

“The Order directs Federal departments and agencies to identify all federally funded programs currently providing financial benefits to illegal aliens and take corrective action,” a White House fact sheet reads. “It ensures that Federal funds to states and localities will not be used to support ‘sanctuary’ policies or assist illegal immigration.”

The fact sheet goes on to note that the cost of illegal alien welfare is currently $3 billion annually for one million illegals.

The U.S. House Homeland Security Committee previously predicted that it’ll cost Americans $451 billion total to pay for all the illegals that have entered the country since then-President Joe Biden assumed office in January of 2021.

No More “Woke” Generals

This week, Trump’s pick for defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, began preparing to fire a whole host of generals and officers, particularly those who were close to his disgrace of a “woke” predecessor, Lloyd Austin.

“Most of those on the list have been closely associated with former Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin … have worked on diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives or have voiced opinions that Trump’s allies viewed as politically out of line with his agenda,” NBC News reported.

“The generals and other officers are expected to be replaced with nominees for their positions who are closer to Hegseth and viewed as more aligned with Trump’s agenda,” its reporting continued.

No More FBI Chicanery

On Thursday the Senate confirmed Kash Patel for a 10-year term as FBI director. A former target of the FBI, Patel has vowed to reform the agency and return it to its roots.

In his first move in office, Patel decided to relocate 1,000 agents from the leftist D.C. area to field offices across the country.

“Director Patel has made clear his promise to the American public that F.B.I. agents will be in communities focused on combating violent crime,” the bureau said in a statement. “He has directed F.B.I. leadership to implement a plan to put this promise into action.”

More Affordable/Accessible IVF

On Tuesday, the president signed an EO asking his Domestic Policy Council to conceive of ways to make in vitro fertilization (IVF) more affordable and accessible.

“Americans need reliable access to IVF and more affordable treatment options, as the cost per cycle can range from $12,000 to $25,000,” the order reads. “Providing support, awareness, and access to affordable fertility treatments can help these families navigate their path to parenthood with hope and confidence.”

More IRS Layoffs

The IRS reportedly began firing employees on Thursday, with the goal being to ax at least 7,000 employees.

“About 7,000 employees were expected to lose their jobs,” the leftist Washington Post lamented. “That’s 7 percent of the roughly 100,000-person agency. Most of the cuts, about 5,000, came in the enforcement and collections section of the tax service.”

More Peace Negotiations With Russia

And on the foreign front, the Trump administration began negotiating a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia.

“Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz met with Russian officials in Riyadh Tuesday to discuss ways to end the war, while U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg met with Ukrainian officials in Kyiv about a peace deal Wednesday,” according to Fox News.

However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later whined about the negotiations, claiming that he and his country were being left out of it. This led to a war of words between him and President Trump.
