Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) railed against a bill requiring proof of citizenship to vote in elections, throwing down the race card by likening the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE) to segregation-era Jim Crow laws.
The SAVE Act faces an uncertain future now that a second government shutdown in three months has been averted, and Democrats are determined to prevent the common-sense measure to ensure the integrity of elections at any cost, giving the game away that they are dependent on illegal aliens to obtain and hold onto political power.
House Republicans, including Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), attempted to have the bill attached to a package of funding bills to keep the government open as Democrats dug in to prevent it from even getting a vote in the Senate, stirring the pot of racial resentment that Schumer’s party relies on to prevent meaningful change to a system that they unfairly benefit from.
The SAVE Act would impose Jim Crow style restrictions on voting. It will be dead on arrival in the Senate.

“The SAVE Act is reminiscent of Jim Crow-era laws and would expand them to the whole of America. Republicans want to restore Jim Crow and apply it from one end of this country to the other. It will not happen,” Schumer said in a Monday statement. “Democrats will go all out to defeat the SAVE ACT and defend free and fair elections.”
According to the bill, which was introduced last year, “Each state must take affirmative steps on an ongoing basis to ensure that only U.S. citizens are registered to vote, which shall include establishing a program to identify individuals who are not U.S. citizens using information supplied by certain sources.” States would also have to remove non-citizens from their voting rolls.
Some X users pointed out that Schumer had previously called a Georgia voter integrity law “Jim Crow 2.0” before it resulted in record black turnout for the 2022 elections in the state.
Doesn’t this act get old?
Schumer used the same line to describe Georgia laws that indisputably expanded voter access back in 2022.
It’s incredibly offensive and unserious to pretend that every voting law equates to a renewal of Jim Crow. https://t.co/ApJGJsDigz pic.twitter.com/dGz3K0EBtW

In other words, Jim Crow it’s not. But as usual, Schumer is lying to torpedo any chance that the SAVE Act might have in the Senate.
“Chuck Schumer calls mandatory voter ID ‘modern-day Jim Crow,’ yet it was Democrats who originally enacted Jim Crow laws in the first place,” Luna said on Tuesday, providing a refresher on history that it was the Democratic Party that backed the racially discriminatory laws that Schumer is referring to.

Even CNN was forced to admit that the overwhelming majority of Black, Hispanic, Asian, and White Americans support voter ID.

The New York City Democrat was shredded for playing the race card, the ONLY card in the deck for the Democrat jokers.
I realize some Democrats love to call everything they dislike or fear “Jim Crow,” but this isn’t the flex you think it is

What’s being inverted here is historical reality.
Jim Crow was not a Republican project.
Jim Crow was conceived, enacted, enforced, and defended for decades by Democrat-controlled state governments, particularly in the South. The architects of segregation…

I understand that the number one organizing principle of the Democratic Party is their desperation to protect illegal aliens so that they can vote in our elections, but comparing a requirement of citizenship to vote with Jim Crow is pathetic even by Schumer standards. https://t.co/QFhiWu0AA0

“Chuck Schumer sounds like a broken record,” Honest Elections Project Executive Director Jason Snead said of the minority leader’s race-baiting. “When Georgia passed a new voting law in 2021, Schumer labeled it ‘Jim Crow’ even though the state went on to see explosive turnout in 2022.”
“Now, Schumer is smearing the SAVE Act the same way because he has no legitimate excuse for opposing a law that makes sure only American citizens are voting, which more than 80% of Americans support. Schumer’s smears were false then, and they are false now,” he told Fox News Digital.
“Chuck Schumer is not the president, and he is not the leader of the majority. He is attempting to race-bait half the country into thinking that voter ID is racist. Meanwhile, his party pushed the American people to carry cards during COVID-19 to prove vaccination status simply to exist in society,” Luna wrote in a post to X after Schumer’s offensive remarks.
