Tucker goes deeper: Did US leaders prompt war because Covid ‘emergency powers’ ended?

Fox News host Tucker Carlson, a fierce opponent of the United States’ involvement in the Ukrainian crisis, has noticed a disturbing link between the government’s response to the conflict abroad and its response to the COVID pandemic here at home.

Speaking on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” this Friday, he specifically noted how “at exactly the moment when the emergency powers they awarded to themselves to fight COVID started to wane, our leaders began pushing for conflict with Russia, and then, on the basis of that conflict, they assumed historic war powers.”

To be clear, the Biden administration has not yet “assumed historic war powers,” though it has made moves, such as furnishing Ukraine with weapons, that have effectively placed the United States into a proxy war with Russia.

Most notable of these moves was President Joe Biden’s decision to impose devastating economic sanctions and also ban Russian oil, all in the hopes of crushing Russia’s economy and forcing President Vladimir Putin to bend the knee to Ukraine.

“Without even pausing, the Biden administration declared total economic war on a sovereign country. No American had been killed. The United States had not been invaded or attacked and yet, with no meaningful public debate or congressional authorization, the Biden administration destroyed that country’s currency, then removed it from the international banking system that impoverished its population,” Carlson said.

“Then the administration began seizing the property of people affiliated with that country without a trial or due process of any kind, without even bothering to explain exactly what crime they had committed. No American government had ever done anything like that before. If there was one thing the U.S. government long stood for, it was the rule of law. The integrity of the system was always the most important thing, but not anymore,” Carslon added.

Everything he said was accurate, including the part about seizing private property.

“We are joining with our European allies to find and seize your yachts, your luxury apartments, your private jets. We are coming for your ill-begotten gains,” the president said during his State of the Union address on March 1st.

He doubled down in remarks made on Friday:

Continuing his commentary on Fox News, Carlson noted that most Americans have cast their blind support to the administration’s actions without pausing to think things through.

“Virtually no one has paused to ask him or herself where this might be going. How long until our leaders do something similar to their domestic enemies here in the United States? How long before they accuse you of collusion or disloyalty or some other hard-to-define crime, declare you an enemy of the state and then confiscate your bank account?” he said.

“Something very much like that just happened in Canada. We don’t imagine it could happen here. Mostly, we just don’t think about it,” he added.

Actually, it has already occurred in the United States, just not at quite the same breadth and scale — not yet, at least.

“What we think about is Ukraine, and that’s the other thing that’s changed. The tech monopolies now exert a level of control over American public opinion that has no precedent in all of history. Eliminating Section 230 or whatever piddling reform Congress is talking about at the moment. It all seems like a joke at this point. It’s too late. The medieval church had less command over society’s emotions than Facebook and Google and Twitter now do,” Carlson continued.

“For the past two years, you have watched these companies, above all, define who you, as an American, must hate,” he said. “Depending upon their directive of the day, our citizens dutifully change their social media avatars from BLM signs, to mask-up slogans, to now Ukrainian flags. Each is a crisis and each new crisis is carefully stage-managed from Silicon Valley at the direction of the White House.”

Big tech has essentially become an arm of the federal government. Or, more specifically, an arm of the Democrat Party, which is the party that currently wields the most power in the U.S. government.

This matters, Carlson continued, because just like the demonstrably left-wing establishment press, big tech has both the power to control what Americans hear and see and the power to manipulate how they think — i.e., they have the power to control the narrative.

“The morning that Russia invaded Ukraine, you may have been talking about a lot of different things — COVID, or crime, or the southern border. Not anymore,” the Fox News host explained.

“Much to relief for the White House, all of those topics have been forgotten, maybe forever. No population has ever been more skillfully manipulated than our population is being manipulated right now,” Carlson concluded.
