Tucker knocks podcasting king from the top of the mountain

Podcast king Joe Rogan was knocked off his long-held spot at the top of Spotify’s podcast chart.

“The Joe Rogan Experience” reigned as the most-listened-to podcast on Spotify where it airs exclusively but it was just bumped out of that position by Tucker Carlson on Thursday.

In a report in March, Bloomberg noted that Rogan’s show had 14.5 million followers, stating that Rogan “accumulated these Spotify followers over just four years – his show wasn’t on the platform until he signed an exclusive deal in 2020.”

Carlson posts his shows on X and has a channel on YouTube. His show Thursday included an interview with former Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Rogan renewed his deal with Spotify allowing the show to be distributed on other platforms. The multi-year deal was worth a reported $250 million, according to The Wall Street Journal.

While Carlson and Rogan occasionally interview the same figures, the two have also appeared together with the former Fox News host joining Rogan in April this year to discuss that members of Congress are allegedly under the control of unelected intelligence agencies.

It remains to be seen if Carlson’s jump to the top Spotify position will extend past Thursday’s show and whether Rogan will reclaim the throne.

Social media users were happy for Carlson but many expressed their support for Rogan as well.
