Twitch influencer Jessica Fernandez has gotten herself into quite the pickle after attempting to smear a man who was just trying to help her out at the gym.
The viral clip features Fernandez taking time out of her obviously intense workout to complain about “weirdos” and men “staring” at her. But while she perceived herself to be a victim of the innocent interaction, social media was there to check her ego.
Watch:
Women are harassed in gyms and it needs to stop, but you are not one of them. An act of kindness or a glance does not make you a victim. pic.twitter.com/34g9265KXb

The gentleman, who was likely wondering why she was whispering to herself while filming a video of her struggling to put weights on, was likely just trying to be a kind citizen. But instead of thanking him for his attempt to help her, she posted a video about him and publicly wondered if she should harm him.
For asking if she needed assistance.
If you’re baffled by her behavior, you’re in excellent company:
I believe it’s a social media thing, a person puts up a video like this and then the domino effect happens where others automatically assume they’re being stalked or harassed. Then it becomes who can chase the clout more with these types of videos.

It’s is NORMAL for people to gaze in public in general, even more so in a gym. Often it’s due to safety or curiosity. I don’t know this young lady but I have no issue with her watching my lift! Don’t project your insecurities on others! pic.twitter.com/K25UiD3soe

He’s obviously taking glances at her debating if he should help or if she needs help. It’s common to hesitate and keep an eye to see if someone needs assistance when you see them struggling. When you’re comfortable enough you’ll walk over and ask. She has main character syndrome.

But the story doesn’t end there. One Twitter user claimed that he goes to the same gym as Fernandez, and he doesn’t have anything nice to say about her.
“I go to the same gym, I also know the guy you tried to shame, he was waiting for you to get off the damn equipment, it’s always a pain in the ass to be in the gym at the same time as you, you spend 90% of the time filming the random workouts you do and 10% actually working out.” he tweeted.
I go to the same gym , I also know the guy you tried to shame , he was waiting for you to get off the damn equipment, its always a pain in the ass to be in the gym at the same time as you , you spend %90 of the time filming the random workouts you do and %10 actually working out pic.twitter.com/TnY38voGmJ

Others noted that her claims of not liking to be sexualized aren’t really reflected by the content she posts:

When pressed about why she seemingly targeted this one fellow who just seemed like he wanted to help her, Fernandez offered an excuse so thin one could read the newspaper through it:
This “gym situation” in a nutshell. You slandered a guy for entertainment. It’s disgusting. pic.twitter.com/ih9JloULHr

Eventually, she posted that she would issue a response to the “gym situation” which garnered thousands of comments, many of them demanding she apologize to the man she publicly humiliated for internet points.
I will be coming out with a response to this whole gym situation in a few days. I’m sorry.

That man deserves an apology, and you need to stay away from any gym.

Just apologize to that dude because you unnecessarily humiliated him. You don’t owe anyone else an apology. But I feel so bad for dude.
