Fox News’ Geraldo Rivera triggered bipartisan backlash on Friday by calling for President Joe Biden to pardon former President Donald Trump.
“For the good of the nation, Ford pardoned Nixon. For the good of the nation, Biden should pardon Trump,” he tweeted that evening.

Both the left and the right pounced on Rivera afterward, albeit for vastly different reasons.
Leftists erupted in rage because they believe former President Trump is a mastermind criminal and traitor who’s been working with sinister foreign leaders to undermine and destroy America from within.
Look:
This is literally the most anti American take, on investigating a former POTUS who tried to overthrow an election and stole classified documents, I have ever heard.
You either care about our constitution, rule of law and the peaceful transfer of power or you don’t.

If it turns out Trump has committed the highest crimes possible for a president, including treason, an insurrection and compromising US national security, I would imagine most Americans are not too excited about your idea.

For the good of the nation, trump should be arrested, prosecuted, convicted, sentenced to prison, and live out the rest of his days paying for all the crimes he committed—FOR THE GOOD OF THE NATION.

Ford pardoning Nixon was a huge mistake. Biden will not make the same mistake.
Also, what Nixon did was nothing compared to trump trying to overturn an election and stealing top secret classified documents.

For which part? Stealing money from our country, colluding with our enemies, the insurrection he keeps lying over or the theft & possible selling of classified documents putting our nation at risk? trump still denies & is certainly not sorry, there should jail not a pardon.

Notice the crimes they accused Trump of committing: overthrowing an election, stealing classified documents, “possibly” selling said documents to America’s enemies, compromising U.S. national security, committing treason, and committing an insurrection.
Note that the former president has been convicted of none of these crimes. Moreover, none of these alleged crimes ever even happened.
Trump tried to legally challenge the 2020 election, not overturn it with some sort of coup or “insurrection.”
The so-called “insurrection” was in fact a one-day riot that had little to do with Trump given as he’d called for peaceful protest.
The former president didn’t “steal” classified documents. As president, he took them home with him after declassifying them by word of mouth. And he did so not for nefarious reasons but because of his ego.
And lastly, former special counsel Robert Mueller’s collusion delusion investigation failed to find enough evidence to prove true the conspiracy theory that Trump committed treason.
With this in mind, conservatives responded to Rivera’s tweet by asking him why the former president would need a pardon in the first place.
Look:
For what? He committed NO crimes

For what crime? Being awesome?
— Doug (@ProudPatriot247) November 19, 2022
What crime’s been committed that necessitates a presidential pardon?
— D. W. Wilber (@DWWilber1) November 19, 2022
Exactly what crime was he found guilty of that needs pardoning?
— Ireene Almayda (@IreeneAlmayda) November 19, 2022
For what crime? Certainly if he committed a real actual crime he would be behind bars by now. Think of alll the investigations & everything they’ve seen…he’s still walking free. The federal government could convict a cheese sandwich, and he’s still free. Cleanest man ever imo ♂️

1. For what crime? They have had a flashlight up his ass for 6 years, created multiple concocted conspiracies, and yet nothing has been proven or led to a conviction.
2. Would he be expected to return the favor for the whole #BidenCrimeFamilly in a couple of years?— Carl S. Byington (@CarlByington) November 19, 2022
Take note of what the latter Twitter user wrote about Trump returning “the favor for the whole #BidenCrimeFamily” if he’s reelected to office in 2024.
A mountain of evidence exists that certain members of the Biden family, including the current’s president’s brother and youngest son, have spent years selling influence overseas.
“The Biden family business model is built on Joe Biden’s political career and connections with Joe Biden as the ‘chairman of the board.’ Biden family members sold access for profit around the world to the detriment of American interests. If President Biden is compromised by deals with foreign adversaries and they are impacting his decision making, this is a threat to national security,” incoming House Oversight Committee chair James Comer said in a press release last week.
“The American people deserve transparency and accountability about the Biden family’s influence peddling. With the new Republican majority, Oversight Committee Republicans will continue pressing for answers to inform legislative solutions to prevent this abuse of power,” he added.
Republicans are essentially planning to return the favor by investigating the Biden family as thoroughly as Democrats investigated the Trump family.
The only difference is that whereas Democrats found virtually nothing after years of investigating, Republicans are already swimming in pools of evidence.
