The DC swamp lives on. As expected, a host of Republican lawmakers betrayed the party’s base on Thursday when they voted with Democrats to pass bloated, pork-filled omnibus spending bills that funded many of the left-wing causes the GOP claims to oppose.
Of all the egregious acts these Republicans supported, shooting down an effort to remove a mandate requiring vehicle manufacturers to install a kill switch in new cars so the government can shut your car off remotely may have been the most hypocritical, considering the party once opposed big government.
“Unbelievably disturbing. 57 House Republicans just joined almost all the Democrats to ensure the government can shut off your car whenever it wants,” Rep. Keith Self (R-Texas) posted in response to the government overreach.

Self shared other posts detailing more of the troubling actions GOP lawmakers supported in voting for the funding bills, including “abortions,” “transgender surgeries on children,” and “DEI activism.”
He rightfully asked, “With Republicans like these, who needs Democrats?”
76 House Republicans joined every single House Democrat in support of earmarks for abortions, gender procedures on children, DEI activism, and partisan pet projects.

Many Republicans are saying we are “doing the best we can.”
Funding abortions?
Funding transgender surgeries on children?
Allowing kill switches on Americans’ cars?
That’s the best we can do? No.
If we keep this up, pretty soon, the Republicans are going to own every failed…

“A lot to be ticked off about. We lied to you and enabled the Marxist left,” Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) posted on X afterwards.
According to the popular Wall Street Mav account, which responded to Burchett’s post, “Republicans betrayed their voters so badly tonight, Democrats CHEERED when these bills passed!”
Republicans betrayed their voters so badly tonight, Democrats CHEERED when these bills passed!
1. Failed to remove a mandate requiring vehicle manufacturers to install a kill switch in new cars so the government can shut your car off remotely.
2. Passed over $10 million in… https://t.co/bE6LUf8hKL

The whole sordid affair gives lift to the sick notion that partisan politics have been cast aside in favor of a uniparty, where everyone gets their share of pork.
Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X, beginning with the question, “Who’s idea was it to put a bill in front of Congress that allows government and corporations to have a kill switch in your cars?”
The GOP is compromised. The FBI is corrupt. Can we fire everyone and start over! Every Republican who voted for a kill switch should be primaried!

Cars have had kill switches in them for a while now. A number of vehicle dealers will install them depending on how your loan/lease is financed. If you miss a couple of payments that car isn’t moving.
I’ve never liked the idea and don’t think it should be legal. Yes, I would…

If this was a ballot question, the ability to government to turn off your car would lose by 60%
But somehow our “representatives”decided they know better
Vote them out

I pray Trump vetoes this mess and that 57 “Republicans” get primaried out of town on a rail.

That’s twice in a row that nearly 100 Republicans have turned their backs on the American voters who put them in office and on President Trump, voting with the Democrats. When are we going to admit that our system is broken? We have activist judges who have destroyed our judicial…
