Sens. Rick Scott and Mike Lee wrote a piece for Fox News calling on Republicans to unite against the reckless spending coming from Democrats and to oppose the Pelosi-Schumer spending bomb in the lame-duck Congress that would explode the nation’s debt even more.

As the left pushes the country towards the cliff edge of national bankruptcy with gleeful abandon, Rick Scott (Fla.) and Mike Lee (Utah) are calling for fiscal sanity in the face of yet more Democratic pork-laden spending in an op-ed posted to Fox News. And it isn’t the first time they have demanded some type of monetary responsibility in Congress.
“Back in September, we wrote in these pages about our disgust with reckless spending in Washington and the historic inflation it was forcing on American families,” the senators began in their article.
“In that op-ed, we made clear that for the spending to stop, Republicans must unite in opposing another spending bill and demand that we pass a continuing resolution (CR) that simply maintains current federal spending levels – and not a penny more – until a new Congress begins,” they continued.
That call went unheeded and the Republicans are running out of time to rein in the spending glut-fest that Democrats are gorging themselves on.
Americans have been clear: they want a Republican-led House to check the unfettered spending of the current Democrat-controlled Congress. pic.twitter.com/t3XeGoiPTn

💯 "Dems made the decision not to pass a budget, so what we shouldn't be doing is passing a big Pelosi-Schumer spending bill w/o going through the budget process. We ought to do a short-term CR, let [118th] Congress pass a real budget, not ridiculous bills." @SenRickScott #ampFW pic.twitter.com/JJj6jTi3Rk

“Now, with the government funding deadline just days away and the start of a new Republican majority in the House coming in mere weeks, we again demand fiscal responsibility and urge our colleagues to stand strong in opposing the Pelosi-Schumer spending bill,” Scott and Lee urged their fellow conservatives.
“Last week, we were joined by four more of our Republican colleagues in the Senate to make clear our staunch opposition to passing the Pelosi-Schumer spending bill in the lame-duck Congress,” the two men asserted.
The senators went on to recount how the Democrats have devastated Americans with their progressive policies and how that is hurting families and businesses across the nation. They point out it will now be the job of the Republican-led House to stop the spending spree and use the pursestrings entrusted to them to do so.
They went on to recount how much damage in the last two years the Democrats have wreaked on hardworking American families.

Congress' idea of a “solution” for Americans:
❌ Ram though a massive spending that doesn’t fix inflation and keeps the Pelosi-Schumer agenda through 2023.How to actually help Americans:

✅ Unleash American energy production
✅ Eliminate harmful regulations— Heritage Foundation (@Heritage) December 12, 2022
“The national debt has grown by nearly $5 TRILLION to an insane $31 TRILLION, causing record inflation that is nearly four times higher than the Federal Reserve target of 2%,” they noted.
“Instead of delivering tax relief to American families, Washington Democrats have worked to raise taxes on nearly every American while recklessly spending $80 BILLION so the IRS can hire 87,000 new agents to target working families and small businesses. Worse still, Democrats are now forcing every American to report any transaction of $600 or more to the IRS, giving the federal government unprecedented access into the personal finances of American families,” the stalwart conservatives stated, alluding to the crackdown by the IRS on Venmo, PayPal, Cash Apps, and other third-party vendors.
Democrats approved 87,000 new IRS agents to go after small businesses and gig workers.
I'm fighting to STOP it.

The Pelosi-Schumer Spending Bill continues Democrats' plans to hire 87,000 IRS agents so the feds can monitor your Venmo and PayPal accounts.
Government doesn't belong in your bank account & I'm fighting to repeal this gross overreach.

The debt is catastrophic, but further killing blows are coming by way of the southern border.
“And there is a historically uncontrolled humanitarian and national security crisis on America’s southern border due to President Biden’s radical open border and pro-amnesty policies, allowing over two million illegal crossings and massive amounts of fentanyl and other lethal drugs into American cities killing our citizens,” Scott and Lee contended.
Earlier this year, I gave Dems a choice: approve 87,000 new IRS agents, or double our border patrol force to stop illegal immigration.
They chose the 87k IRS agents to come after YOU instead of securing the border. That's not what Americans want & I'm fighting to reverse it. https://t.co/8X4FTXjKKC

Biden's border catastrophe is OUT OF CONTROL, and it's putting our communities at risk.
Our brave border patrol agents need the support and resources necessary to keep us safe, not a president who is scared to go and see the problem for himself. https://t.co/KfvPzN9kKm

“Given these Democrat ‘achievements,’ it would be a blatant dereliction of our duty for Senate Republicans to allow Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., to ram through a so-called ‘omnibus’ bill – which would fund the entirety of the Pelosi-Schumer spending agenda through most of next year,” they went on to state.
“In fact, since 1954, control of the House has changed five times and there has NEVER been an instance of Congress passing an omnibus spending bill before a new House majority takes power. Doing so now would not only defy precedent, it would unfairly tie the hands of the incoming Republican majority,” the conservatives warned.
They went on to assert that passing a continuing resolution “into next year will not result in ANY cuts to funding or services, nor is it some convoluted scheme to cause a government shutdown.”
Rising prices are CRUSHING the American people, thanks to the Democrats' tax and spend spree.
Yesterday's #PPI report sends a clear message: another Pelosi/Schumer spending bill isn't the answer. I'm fighting for a short-term CR to stop reckless spending & relieve families.

Then they hammered the scam by the left of not giving Republicans enough time to read any of their socialist diktats.
“It’s also worth repeating our total rejection of the failed and ridiculous thinking here in Washington that the only way to get some things done is to shove them into a giant spending bill negotiated in secret and pass it before anyone has time to read it. That’s not how any family or business operates. In the real world, you make plans, meet deadlines and live within your means because failing to do those things means failing to survive and prosper. Congress should be treated no differently,” the senators claimed.
“Washington has been broken and unaccountable for too long. Congress should pass a funding bill that balances the budget and do so on time. That’s not too much to ask – it should be the bare minimum. Unless we stand up now, the reckless inflation-fueling spending will only get worse,” they declared.
Americans have voted to end Pelosi's reign as Speaker opting for a divided government starting in 2023
Congress shouldn't go around the will of the people and pass a massive lame duck spending bill that would effectively keep the Pelosi-Schumer agenda in place through next year
— Heritage Foundation (@Heritage) December 13, 2022
Mike is absolutely right. The Pelosi-Schumer Spending Bill is an unprecedented inflation bomb that will only sink America deeper in debt.
It's bad for the country & we're fighting together to stop it. https://t.co/U2pypszgIx

The two men concluded by calling for Republicans to close ranks and force Democrats to deal with them and abide by the wishes of the American people.
“It’s time for Republicans to stand together and force Democrats to compromise. We cannot cave and give Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., a multitrillion-dollar gift right after she’s been fired as speaker of the House. To ignore the clear results of the recent election by locking in and fully funding the Pelosi-Schumer spending agenda just weeks before the new Congress begins would be an unforgivable betrayal of the will of American voters,” they wrote.
“The American people have made their voices heard. It’s time to end the madness and get our house in order before it’s too late,” Scott and Lee concluded.
