US women’s soccer team flip bird to critics for second round; see new national anthem performance

The United States women’s soccer team has been putting up some lifeless performances of the American national anthem, being shamed by the enthusiasm of their opposing countries.

During the Wednesday game against Holland, only 6 of the US team members could even be bothered to put their hands over their hearts during the song. Of them, just three actually sang along, though it appears those women just mumbled their way through.

Watch:

Compare and contrast this behavior with the opposing Dutch team’s rousing rendition of their own anthem, complete with arms slung over one another in a show of camaraderie.

Social media users found their lack of enthusiasm quite disappointing:

Earlier this month, American Wire reported the USWNT stayed mostly mute during the national anthem as well, this time being outshined by their Vietnamese counterparts. This prompted backlash as the women’s behavior is being seen as disrespectful to the very country they are blessed to represent.
