President Joe Biden’s sudden announcement that he would be dropping his reelection campaign left his allies stunned and distraught with some of them struggling with their emotions on live television.
After weeks of speculation amid an intensifying pressure campaign from his own party’s elite, the embattled 81-year-old broke the news to a stunned nation in a brief letter posted to social media, sending shockwaves through the political world.
One of those who was barely able to keep his composure was CNN’s Van Jones who teared up during a segment in which he described the Democrats as a “family” and likened the ouster of their feeble leader to taking the keys away from grandpa.

“Biden’s body may not be as strong as it once was… but his heart is as big as ever,” Jones said as he choked up.
On MSNBC, conspiracy queen Rachel Maddow was distraught, also trying to keep her emotions in check over the abrupt end to the political career of a man who she’s defended for the last four years while at the same time gaslighting viewers about his greatness.
Maddow: What a man, what a patriot. Selfless devotion to your country. He has been a phenomenal president. He gave us the best recovery from Covid of any major nation. He ended the presidency of Donald Trump and did it while being decent, civil and honorable pic.twitter.com/xUeUyUh1Ug

“I cannot see anywhere in his personality where this decision today is possible. This is the opposite of something that is natural or easy for him,” she said in an emotionally charged segment. “He is just not built to do something like this. Him making this decision today is to give the country a reasonable chance at not putting Donald Trump back in the White House.”
A top promoter of the Russiagate hoax and the loony claim that former President Donald J. Trump will have Democrats thrown into an internment camp, the lesbian leftist has been one of Biden’s greatest champions in the media.
Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE), a devout Biden ally from his home state, turned on the waterworks on CBS.

While leftists tried to unpack what had just happened with their teary tributes to the lame duck octogenarian, others took to the X platform where they called a spade a spade.
Joe Biden turned America into a banana republic by prosecuting his election opponent. And as in a banana republic, he has now been deposed in a coup. What goes around comes around.

No one has seen Biden since his account posted that he’s leaving the race. His staff and aides found out on @X. If this was happening in another country, we’d all be asking where the President was. Very bizarre. Looks like a coup. https://t.co/051vggxRjl

The coup is complete.

Why is the White House Chief of Staff calling cabinet officials about this purported decision by Biden, and not Biden himself?
This looks like a bloodless coup. Does the president know he’s not running for election? Does he know he’s still running the country?
Has anyone even…

Think about how crazy this coup is: Democrats made Biden announce he was dropping out via a written Sunday afternoon statement while he’s at his beach house with covid. No on camera statement. Not even a photo of him signing the letter. Just wild.

This was a coup against Joe Biden! I’m outraged! This was an actual insurrection and is a threat to our democracy! (Am I saying it right?)

Biden’s sudden reversal after stubbornly refusing to drop out and doing it in a letter posted to social media and not a speech to the nation raises serious questions. Now his party will have to scramble to get in line behind whichever figurehead is picked to replace him.
