Top GOP senator wants to know why Jill Biden had more Secret Service protection than Trump on shooting day

A top Senate Republican wants answers on why the Secret Service assigned four times more agents to First Lady Jill Biden than GOP nominee Donald J. Trump on the day he was nearly assassinated at a Pennsylvania rally.

In a letter to Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) cited communications provided by whistleblowers showing that on July 13, Mrs. Biden was given a dozen agents for “post standing” for a mundane event in Pittsburgh while Trump only got three for his rally in nearby Butler, a stunning lack of protection for the “new Hitler” who was a prime target for having a shot taken at him.

“My office has received legally protected whistleblower disclosures that include records of communications between and among Secret Service personnel. The records include communications from July 11, 2024, that show First Lady Jill Biden received 12 Secret Service personnel for “post sanding” for her event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024,” the letter reads.

“Those same communications show that former President Trump received three Secret Service personnel for ‘post standing’ for his event in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024,” Grassley wrote, including an excerpt of the communications that he refers to.

According to a portion of one email with the subject line of “203.080 First Lady Dr. Jill Bident to Pittsburgh, PA,” it states the “following 12 personnel have been selected for a temporary assignment as post-standers in support of the First Lady Dr. Jill Biden to Pittsburgh, PA on July 13, 2024.”

The second email with the subject line “203.080 Candidate Donald Trump to Pittsburgh, PA” says that “the following 3 personnel have been selected for a temporary assignment as post-standers in support of candidate Donald Trump to Pittsburgh, Pa on July 13, 2024.”

The letter is dated July 20, two days before Cheatle is set to testify on Capitol Hill where she’ll be grilled over the inexplicable failure to protect Trump who nearly became the first major party candidate to be assassinated since Bobby Kennedy in 1968.

X users had some thoughts on the skewed priorities of the Secret Service.

Cheatle has refused to resign and now-lame duck President Joe Biden won’t fire her, a resounding statement that there is no accountability for DEI hires.
