Video shows how murderer managed to pull off daring escape from Penn prison

The manhunt is on for a man convicted of murder and, on Wednesday, a video of how he managed his daring escape was released.

Danelo Cavalcante was convicted of the murder of his ex-girlfriend last month. The 34-year-old reportedly fatally stabbed her in front of her children in 2021 and was finally set to face justice when he managed to find a way to escape the prison where he was being held.

Watch:

In the video, Cavalcante can be seen scaling the walls of the prison yard, eventually reaching the roof where he navigated through razor-wire and ended up scaling a wall to make his daring escape. It is reported that the guard on duty did not see the escape and is currently on administrative leave as the situation is being investigated.

It took nearly an hour for anyone to actually notice the murderer had slipped away, and prison staff did not activate the escape siren for ten minutes after they realized he was gone.

The surrounding community as well as the family and friends of the victims have been undoubtedly experiencing extreme fear, and Active Warden Howard Holland assured all during a press conference that they recognize the gravity of the situation and are working fast to bring the murderer back to where he belongs.

“I just want to ensure that we know the gravity of the situation and how it’s impacted our community negatively,” he said. “Moreover, to the victims of this individual, I want to make sure that they know we are consistently and consciously thinking of what they’re going through. They are continually in our thoughts and prayers to make sure we bring Mr. Cavalcante to justice.”
