Watters torches Tarlov for fantasizing about Trump spending life in prison as if it ‘was a good thing’

Things got very tense on “The Five” as Jesse Watters called out Jessica Tarlov for treating the possibility of former President Trump spending the rest of his life behind bars as “a good thing.”

The back and forth took place on Thursday’s Fox News show while the panel was discussing the GOP primary debate. Watters addressed Tarlov over “something that really bothered me the other day.”

“Last night I would have just said, ‘In this country, prosecutors don’t determine elections, we the people do.’ And just leave it like that. Or I would have said, ‘We don’t determine elections in the courtroom; we determine them at the ballot box,’ and that is it,” Watters began.

“And the fact that Trump is getting railroaded, it is not about Trump; It’s about the entire movement. Everybody in this country. And so, I think tonight when he gets mugshotted — I didn’t like the way it looked with Rudy, and I thought it was going to be a big, viral moment,” he continued.

Watters then scolded Tarlov for her disgraceful attitude over Trump being arrested, booked, and given a mugshot with the potential of spending life in prison due to political persecution.

“And, you said something that bothered me the other day and it’s been on my mind. I said something to you and you go, ‘Oh, yeah? Well, Trump has been indicted and is facing life in prison,’ and you made it seem like that was a good thing. And that’s actually a disgraceful thing. It’s a sad thing. And the fact that you’re using that as a talking point, is, it’s beneath you, Jessica,” Watters declared, spanking Tarlov over her flippancy.

Tarlov attempted to justify her comments.

“Ok, so a couple points of clarification. I never said Trump was facing life in prison… He’s facing indictments in four different jurisdictions and that’s what I said, and it’s not about—” she responded, knowing full well that if Trump is convicted even on one charge, he will potentially never see the light of day again.

“You said it with a smile,” Watters clapped back.

“No, that’s just my disposition,” Tarlov asserted, “It is just my face.”

Pirro then stepped in as the issue escalated between the two co-hosts.

“But you know what the worst part of this is? Is that one guy who’s running for president has his Department of Justice indicting another man who’s running for president,” she interjected, making a blunt point.

“But doesn’t it bother you that a guy that committed, potentially committed a bunch of crimes is running for president?” Tarlov asked trying to deflect from the actions of President Biden, his administration, and Democrats.

“I don’t ever want to hear the ‘no one is above the law’ argument again from your side,” Greg Gutfeld chimed in.

“And no one is beneath the law either,” Pirro remarked.

“Yeah, that you created a society where every day we watch people above the law. It’s called smash and grabs, it’s robberies… You guys are going after him not because of the law… because it’s a scalp right? This is payback for four years of a presidency that broke your brain and his mere presence has destroyed you so now you have to go put him away… put his lawyers away… scare the crap out of everybody,” Gutfeld told Tarlov.
