Rep. Dan Crenshaw unloaded on his Democrat colleagues over their defense of sex change surgeries for kids, a heinous practice that has become an unshakable dogma with the modern American left as well as a highly lucrative industry that preys upon confused young people.
The Texas Republican blasted Democrats during a House hearing this week, pushing back at those who seek to smear opponents of the controversial procedures that slice away the breasts of young girls and chop off boys’ reproductive sex organs as being crazy and cruel, insisting that the opposite is true.
Crenshaw took to Twitter on Thursday to share a video clip of his remarks from the hearing and rejecting criticism of his fight against the child sex change surgeries commonly known by the innocuously sounding “gender-affirming care” which he previously described as the “issue of our time'”
Doing a double mastectomy on a 12-year-old girl? That’s cruel.
Castrating a 10-year-old boy? That’s cruel.

“I’ve been called cruel multiple times,” he said in his remarks at the hearing. “I am not the one who is cruel. Doing a double mastectomy on a 12-year-old girl. That’s cruel. Castrating a 10-year-old boy. That’s cruel. Putting them on permanent hormone therapy and puberty blockers that could prevent them from ever having children, permanently changing their physiology, there’s a cruelty to that for sure.”
“We are not the crazy ones here,” Crenshaw added. “This has been called a manufactured culture war … If it’s a manufactured culture war, then why are we even debating? Then why do you care if it’s banned? So it’s not manufactured.”
“We are responding to what is inherently a social contagion,” he said, turning to data on child genital mutilation surgeries. “In the UK, referrals for these kind of transitions went up by a factor of 33 between 2009 and 2018.”
“In the U.S. in 2007, there was only one pediatric gender clinic that would do this, now there’s over 70,” he said. “This has increased by 45,000 percent in many hospitals. We’re not making this up, we are responding to it.”
Crenshaw later questioned why anyone would support and advocate for the ongoing use of the procedures on children despite the risks to their future physical and mental health.
“You might not know that bananas are healthy for kids, but you also know that there’s not much risk to giving them a banana. So it’s not a big deal. This kind of stuff is a really big deal,” he said.”And when every single piece of evidence shows that there’s not a clear benefit associated with it, you just press pause. Heck, we’re not even pressing pause. We’re saying don’t fund institutions that are actively doing it. We’re doing way less than pressing pause.”
He went on to blast Democrats for ignoring polls that show an overwhelming number of Americans don’t support the barbaric surgeries, telling his colleagues that since taxpayer money is involved, “So you do have to care just a little bit,” also arguing that “roughly 70%” of teens who go to gender clinics have a “co-morbid psychiatric diagnosis that came about prior to the gender issues.”
“That’s a really important fact. Do you not care about that when you’re claiming that refusing this kind of care is causing suicide? Do you not care that those preconditions might have already been there?” Crenshaw asked. “Is that not a fact that you would want to look at before you automatically propose permanent physiological change as someone.”
“We are not the ones being uncompassionate. We are not the ones being cruel. We are the ones saying press pause. There’s an extreme trend going on, and we don’t have the science to back up its benefits. And you can’t argue with that, but please try,” he said.
