‘We are not the same’: DHS slams Dems for bringing illegal aliens to SOTU

Democrats’ illegal alien State of the Union stunt earned a receipt-fueled rebuke from the Department of Homeland Security as it declared, “We are not the same.”

Political theater was well-represented Tuesday night in Washington, D.C., between the left’s counterprogramming and those who attended President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address with disruption in mind. On top of the overt displays with signs, pins, and shouts, the decision of some elected officials to “bring ILLEGAL ALIENS” earned the ire of DHS.

Sharing a thread that included some of the most recent arrests, which included “pedophiles, rapists, and violent criminals from our communities,” Homeland Security posted to X, “We are not the same. While Republicans are bringing victims of crimes committed by illegal criminal aliens to the State of the Union, some Democrats in Congress are planning to bring ILLEGAL ALIENS.”

“Democrats are once again prioritizing illegal aliens above the safety of American citizens,” the post continued before listing off the guests of lawmakers like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Colorado Sen. John Hickenlooper (D), and Massachusetts Rep. Seth Moulton (D).

Schumer was said to have invited the mother of Dylan Josue Lopez Contreras, an illegal alien from Venezuela, released into the country during the Biden administration. After overstaying her visa by more than a decade, Caroline Dias Gonçalves was listed as the guest of Colorado Sen. John Hickenlooper (D).

Massachusetts Rep. Seth Moulton was said to have invited Marcelo Gomes DaSilva, “an illegal alien who has no right to be in our nation,” detailed DHS. “We are committed to enforcing the law and fighting for the arrest, detention, and removal of aliens like him.”

“Once again, they are putting illegal aliens above the safety of American citizens. Yesterday alone, our officers arrested pedophiles, rapists, and violent criminals from our communities,” DHS asserted. “President Trump and Secretary Noem have made it abundantly clear: if you come to our country illegally and break our laws, we will find you, we will arrest you, and you will NEVER return.”

As had been reported, Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D) four guests fitting the theme included Aliya Rahman, previously detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after she was alleged to have impeded their Jan. 13, 2026, operation regarding Ecuadorian national Jonathan Chachipanta-Pualacin.

Among the other Democrats with similar invitees, including Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, Illinois Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, California Rep. Mike Levin and New Jersey Rep. Robert Menendez Jr., Fox News reported that Illinois Rep. Jesús García (D) had invited Marimar Martinez, alleged to have a “history of doxxing federal agents” and to have participated in an “ambush” of federal agents in October.

The congressman told Fox News Digital, “I invited Marimar Martinez to be my guest to the State of the Union because her own government almost murdered her and is now covering it up by smearing her and failing to hold Charles Exum and other agents accountable.”

“I’m proud that Marimar is my guest. Her courage stands in stark contrast to the cowardice and brutality of DHS and the rest of this lawless Administration,” he went on.

The America Last posturing was not overlooked by Trump as he got the Democrats on record, remaining seated when he said, “If you agree with this statement, then stand up and show your support: the first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.”
