After iconic KISS rocker Paul Stanley kicked over a hornet’s nest and took a stance against gender-affirming care for minors, it came as a surprise when Twisted Sister’s non-conforming lead singer Dee Snider fully agreed with him on the issue.
Stanley’s statement on Twitter was well-informed and thoughtful, stating, “There is a BIG difference between teaching acceptance and normalizing and even encouraging participation in a lifestyle that confuses young children into questioning their sexual identification as though some sort of game and then parents in some cases allow it.”
“There ARE individuals who as adults may decide reassignment is their needed choice but turning this into a game or parents normalizing it as some sort of natural alternative or believing that because a little boy likes to play dress up in his sister’s clothes or a girl in her brother’s, we should lead them steps further down a path that’s far from the innocence of what they are doing,” he asserted.
“With many children who have no real sense of sexuality or sexual experiences caught up in the ‘fun’ of using pronouns and saying what they identify as,” he contended, “some adults mistakenly confuse teaching acceptance with normalizing and encouraging a situation that has been a struggle for those truly affected and have turned it into a sad and dangerous fad,” Stanley concluded.
When Snider saw the post, he responded, “You know what? There was a time where I ‘felt pretty’ too. Glad my parents didn’t jump to any rash conclusions! Well said, @PaulStanleyLive.”

Snider does not seem to fit into any political pigeonhole. He rages against the GOP and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla) but he is also an advocate of free speech. Apparently, he’s also against permanently mutilating children because of a “fad.”
For backing a fellow rock legend, Snider was hammered on social media and he had a few things to say about that as well.
One commenter named Elle implored him, “Dee, PLEASE, PLEASE DON’T fall for the bullshit being spun by the Right. This is no fetish, it’s not ‘confusion,’ and it’s been noted for thousands of years though only seriously studied in the past 100. PLEASE!”
He responded by saying, “I’m not, Elle. Parents need to be less reactionary; Right and Left. No need to steer the child in either direction. Let the kid figure it out for themselves knowing their family is supportive. I had a vet/cop hardass dad who, while he shook his head A LOT…let me do my thing.”

Another user named Heather told Snider, “Ever hear of deep societal pressure for people to hide who they are?”
The rocker replied, “Been there lived that. You all do know who you’re talking to, right?”

The comments by Stanley and Snider are ripping the issue of so-called “gender-affirming care” for minors wide open for debate and many believe that’s necessary to stop the mutilation of children.
Despite being attacked for his opinion, Snider also drew some support from social media. In the end, it’s about the kids:
There you go, exactly! Thank you for standing up for the truth ❤️

This is a war on reality. Thanks for being sane.

Stand firm.
You are right.
Thank you, from an auntie to non-conforming boys and as a pretty non-conformist woman myself.
THANK YOU.

Leftists, however, had a total meltdown over Snider’s stance:
beyond lazy. no one rushes a kid through this system of checks and balances and no one would want to. it’s manufactured hysteria and you two fell for it.
the communication revolution puts today’s kids light years beyond your younger selves. you know nothing of this subject— I think you should leave turbo team (@ITYSL) May 1, 2023
You have no idea what you’re talking about. It does not break down so simply.
— LoriGrace (@lorigraceaz) May 1, 2023
This is an extremely bad take. Trans children who are not accepted may not live to become adults.
— Jules Styles (@Colonel_Cream) May 1, 2023
No. I listen to your radio show often (for now), but you should really walk this back. It’s not about feeling pretty (why put it in quotes), it’s about seeing and being your true self. Being seen as who you really are. Also, the process is very complex. Stay in your lane, man.

Well…this is disappointing.

Please, Dee, not you! No parents are jumping to any rash conclusions, that’s a total myth that happens at all.
