The White House is continuing its “MAGA Republicans are extremists” mantra as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) threatened to withhold her vote to avert a government shutdown unless Congress passes an impeachment inquiry on President Joe Biden.
Greene posted a video of herself speaking on Thursday at a Floyd County Town Hall event in which she listed the requirements that Congress must meet before she would vote to fund the government.
“I’ve already decided I will not vote to fund the government unless we have passed an impeachment inquiry on Joe Biden,” she stated to a round of thunderous applause and cheers.
Greene also demanded an end to the “weaponization” of the Department of Justice and the defunding of Jack Smith’s special counsel; all COVID vaccine mandates; and the constant flow of money to aid Ukraine.
Tonight, I made an announcement directly to my constituents at my Floyd County Town Hall.
I will not vote to fund the government if Congress doesn’t do this:
– Impeachment Inquiry vote on Joe Biden
– Defund Biden’s weaponization of government
– Eliminate all COVID vaccine and… pic.twitter.com/2WXd4CrV7R— Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (@RepMTG) August 31, 2023
If the crowd’s reaction was any indication, Greene’s resolution to use the power of the purse to stop policies that do not serve this nation is popular among a large swath of voters. But according to White House spokesperson Andrew Bates, it was all just a “stunt” from the “fringe” of the Republican Party that doesn’t address the issues “Americans care about deeply.”
“The last thing the American people deserve is for extreme House members to trigger a government shutdown that hurts our economy, undermines our disaster preparedness, and forces our troops to work without guaranteed pay,” Bates said in a statement.
“The House Republicans responsible for keeping the government open already made a promise to the American public about government funding,” he said, “and it would be a shame for them to break their word and fail the country because they caved to the hardcore fringe of their party in prioritizing a baseless impeachment stunt over high stakes needs Americans care about deeply – like fighting fentanyl trafficking, protecting our national security, and funding FEMA.”
Bates’s comments come after President Biden once again attempted to demonize “MAGA Republicans” on Tuesday during a speech about lowering health care costs.
“Folks, there’s a lot of really great Republicans out there. And I mean that sincerely,” the president said. “But we’ll stand up to the MAGA Republicans who voted against the Inflation Reduction Act and now are attempting to still repeal it.”
Squinting to read the teleprompter, Biden mumbled while scratching himself, “And the name — and the MAGA Republicans who have been trying for years to get rid of the Affordable Care Act deny tens of millions of Americans access to quality, affordable healthcare.”
JUST IN: President @JoeBiden says there are great Republicans out there, sincerely, but MAGA Republicans are bad and he will stand up to them. WATCH pic.twitter.com/H0NiKILmsP

Meanwhile, MTG is receiving more praise for her “hardcore” stance on X, though many feel that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and other Republicans will likely get in the way of her efforts.
Defund the FBI DOJ CIA and end all federal funding to Georgia until they can get their house in order. That’s where you need to start. Doesn’t matter though because McCarthy will just cut a deal with Biden and you’ll all be ok with it.

Do not give in. Do not comply. Do not compromise

Let’s get this ball rolling. Defund the Government is the best campaign platform I can think of.
