Bless his heart. Perhaps, since he has been around since dirt, President Joe Biden feels the same way about U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi — after all, at the age of 83, the California Democrat is three years his senior.
Biden was speaking at the 2023 We Are EMILY Gala last week, honoring the “incredible” former speaker — so incredible that the president appeared to credit Pelosi with helping “rescue the economy in the Great Depression.”
“I honestly believe that — Nancy, I’ve been saying this for a long time, and I mean it from the bottom of my heart — Nancy Pelosi is going to go down in history as one of the most consequential speakers in the history of the United States,” the 80-year-old president said. “Not merely because she’s a woman — because she’s so incredible.”
“With Nancy leading the way, you never had to worry about whether the bill would pass. If she said she had the votes, she had the votes every time,” Biden continued. “She had to vote so many life-changing pieces of legislation. She helped rescue the economy in the Great Depression; pass the Affordable Care Act; ended Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”

Keep in mind, Pelosi was born on March 26, 1940, and most historians say the Great Depression ended in 1939 — World War II was the true impetus that ended the catastrophic period of economic depression.
Now, it’s likely that Biden was referring to the housing market crash of 2008, which has been coined by some as the Great Recession — Pelosi was speaker from 2007–11 and again from 2019–23, but words matter and the Great Depression did not take place in 2008.
And we are talking about the commander-in-chief of the most powerful nation in human history — then again, sometimes all you can do is just laugh.
