Jennifer Jo Cobb will have to pay $850,000 after a woman took her to court, claiming her husband had an affair with the NASCAR driver.
The 53-year-old driver allegedly carried on an affair with Clayton Odie Hughes, who had been married to his wife, Tracey Hughes, for 17 years, The Daily Mail reported. The wife took Cobb to court on January 5 with claims that she “willfully, intentionally, and deliberately seduced, enticed, and alienated the affections” of Hughes, and on September 24, a jury sided with her.
Cobb, who last raced in 2024, was found liable to pay $50,000 for alienation of affection and another $800,000 for criminal conversation.
More from the outlet:
Hughes said she had been happily married until Cobb entered the fray.
The heartbroken divorcee alleged in her complaint that Cobb called and texted her husband while traveling to races, and set up secret meetings for sex.
Hughes stated that she ‘suffered the loss of support, injury to [her] feelings and reputation, and had her marital relationship destroyed’ by the alleged affair.
ADVERTISEMENTShe sought damages in excess of $25,000 for both the alienation of affection and criminal conversation claims, along with $25,000 in punitive damages.
Criminal conversation allows a person to sue if their spouse had sexual intercourse with another person while the marriage was still intact, though it is a civil tort and not a criminal charge like the name may imply.

North Carolina has this law same state the female Arizona Senator is being sued for the same issue. Don’t cheat on your spouse or with a married person in North Carolina.

That will likely be addressed in divorce court. This law allows the male/female to recover damages from someone knowingly having an affair with their married partner.

Hilarious law on the books there in North Carolina. Kinda love it. Let’s expand to all states just so I can watch the carnage unfold https://t.co/8OKlnWYOWt
