‘A nightmare’: Gaetz rips bipartisan Senate amnesty deal – GOP speaker says ‘absolutely not’

The relentless stream of unvetted foreigners who are illegally crossing into the United States threatens to fundamentally change the fabric of America forever, and, according to Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), the bipartisan Senate “amnesty” deal, proposed by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.), is “a nightmare.”

“It gives legal status to illegal aliens who have gamed our system and broken our laws. It rolls out the red carpet for 5,000 illegals EVERY DAY, forever,” Gaetz stated Saturday on X.

According to the Immigration Accountability Project, the bill would:

1) Increase green cards by 50,000/year

2) Work permits for adult children of H-1B holders

3) Immediate work permits to every illegal alien released from custody

4) Taxpayer funded lawyers to certain UACs and mentally incompetent aliens

5) Expulsion authority for a limited number of days ONLY if encounters exceed 5k/day over a seven day period

6) Restricts parole for those who enter without authorization between ports of entry

“It’s hard enough to stop the far-left’s state-sponsored invasion of our Southern Border, and it’s even harder when you’re pulling Senator Langford’s daggers out of your back,” Gaetz fumed. “I oppose the Senate Amnesty Deal and will work to see its defeat.”

During his Friday podcast, Gaetz warned, “Right now, America is being invaded.”

“We need to close the border or close the government,” he said. “That is the leverage we have.”

“Within this government funding dispute, we have to demand that the border be closed,” he argued. “Not some promise that can be abandoned or memo’d over later. We have to stop this wave of people. … No deportations, no border — no government funding. That’s my position.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson made clear on X his thoughts about the Schumer-Lankford deal: “Absolutely not.”

Speaking last week on CBS’s Face the Nation, Johnson said it’s a matter of “common sense.”

“I think anyone with common sense would tell you that you cannot throw more money at a bad system,” Johnson explained. “We don’t want to empower more of this. The White House, the administration, [Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro] Mayorkas, have put a welcome mat out. So we know that we have people coming from nearly 170 countries around the world and again, many dangerous people.”

You must first, he argued, “stop the flow.”

“In a triage situation, you have to stop the flow first before you can commence with the surgery and we’re hemorrhaging here,” Johnson said. “And everyone knows it.”

“Did you know that in this facility here at Del Rio, they estimate that 60 to 70% of the people who have come across are single adult males?” he continued. “We saw them today. It’s a combination of them and young women who are being trafficked for sex. We know that. And then these minors that the cartels are making huge amounts of money on. I mean, this is just anyone with a conscience who came down to see this would demand that it stop. And our constituents are telling us that.”

Johnson said the House-passed provisions in the H.R. 2 border security bill must be part of any deal. All five of the provisions are “important” and rely upon each other for an effective solution to the crisis.

“If you don’t end catch and release as a policy, if you don’t reinstitute ‘remain in Mexico,’ if you only fix asylum or parole and not these other things, then you don’t solve the problem. You don’t stem the flow here,” he explained. “And again, that’s the number one objective so that we can get a handle on this crisis.”

Back on X, angry conservatives are putting Lankford and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on blast.

“If this immigration bill passes, it will go down as the greatest GOP betrayal in history,” predicted the popular End Wokeness account. “McConnell is urging Republicans to vote for this now because this won’t pass under a second Trump term.”

“Call your senator and urge them to vote against this betrayal against our country,” the account urged users.

TPUSA founder and CEO Charlie Kirk called Lankford a “fraud.”

“Senator Lankford is a fraud. He played the great people of Oklahoma for another 6 year term so he can sell out America for an open border deal with Schumer,” Kirk wrote. “Disgusting.”

“Wtf is wrong with Oklahoma?” asked Benny Johnson. “Lankford needs to lose his seat over this. What a complete Judas. Enough.”

One Oklahoman even apologized for giving Lankford a seat at the table.

“Don’t blame Oklahoma for electing the TURNCOAT, [Senator Lankford], who has DECEIVED ALL Oklahomans, regardless of their party affiliation!” the user implored Johnson. “Lankford’s FILTHY deal with Chuck Schumer isn’t bipartisan; it is a KICK in the GUT of EVERY American! Oklahoma APOLOGIZES for LANKFORD!”
