AOC mocked for dramatic rant as more than 200 Dems vote against bill protecting women’s sports

The left’s war on women had Democrats siding against a bill to protect girls’ sports and one Squad member’s speech was torched for trumpeting “Trans girls are girls!”

“…I’ve played co-ed sports all the time.”

Tuesday on Capitol Hill, the partisan divide that President-elect Donald Trump will face to kick off his second administration was made abundantly clear as only Democrats crossed the aisle to vote in favor of the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025.

In case the 218-206 vote that found Texas Democratic Reps. Henry Cuellar and Vicente Gonzalez siding with the GOP didn’t speak well enough for itself on what the left thought of shoring up Title IX based on biology and genetics at birth, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) took to the House floor with radical claims about women “bleeding out in parking lots” and “genital examinations” of young girls.

“Republicans who have voted against — consistently against the Violence Against Women Act, who have taken away the right of all women to choose and have control over their own body, who, as women are bleeding out in parking lots across the country, standing there, allowing us to die, now want to pretend today that they care about women,” she began. “And why? To open up gender, and yes, genital examinations into little girls in this country, in the so-called name of attacking trans girls.”

Sharing the viral rant, Libs of TikTok begged the question, “Why does AOC want boys to beat up girls??” as the congresswoman continued, “The majority right now says there’s no place in this bill that says it opens up for genital examinations. Well, here’s the thing, there’s no enforcement mechanism in this bill. And when there is no enforcement mechanism, you open the door to every enforcement mechanism.”

“Trans girls are girls!” asserted the New York lawmaker who is an advocate for a so-called “Transgender Bill of Rights.”

“And for all the folks that are so concerned, thank you for your concern about women for the first that I’ve seen. I don’t know about y’all, I don’t know who’s been to gym class lately, but girls, even if you only believe there’s only two genders, I’ve played co-ed sports all the time,” added Ocasio-Cortez who contended, “Bigoted folks love this bill. Assaulters love this bill. But also CEOs love this bill. Because Los Angeles is on fire right now, and this is the number one priority this majority has.”

Hardly alone in outcry, her Empire State peer New York Rep. Jerry Nadler (D) shared his own remarks that were ridiculed on X, arguing, “The proposed federal ban on trans girls participating in school sports is cruel and poorly thought out. Forcing kids to undergo humiliating physical exams by strangers to ‘verify’ their sex? That’s an attack on their dignity & privacy. I plan to reject this hateful legislation.”

Of course, even Ocasio-Cortez recognized that no place in the bill called for such exams, and it even allowed for “males to train or practice with an athletic program or activity that is designated for women or girls so long as no female is deprived” of their opportunity.

Further, many pointed out that physical exams had always been a part of participating in organized athletics regardless of the lamentations of gender ideologues.

Still, as the Boston University alumna’s rant racked up millions of views, it was her whole party that got mocked as one individual reminded that she may well be a presidential nomination contender.
