‘Bad attitude’: Maher hits Michelle O for saying America’s not ready for a female president

A former first lady’s take on America’s supposed lack of readiness for a woman president found comedian Bill Maher calling out her “bad attitude.”

Since the ousting of then-President Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic Party’s 2024 presidential ticket, leftists bucking for the top spot on a list of who could out-hate President Donald Trump have demonstrated the absence of a leader among the lot.

Now, as former first lady Michelle Obama attempted to separate herself from consideration by pointing to then-Vice President Kamala Harris’ second failed White House bid, the host of HBO’s “Real Time” relayed how “shocked” he was to hear her resort to faulting nationwide sexism.

Joined by guests Donna Brazile, the former Democratic National Committee chairwoman, and Michael “Killer Mike” Render, the rapper and activist brought up the crux of the matter as Maher attempted to introduce the subject, saying, “She said she didn’t think the country was ready for [a female president].”

“Well, that’s what we have to talk about. I mean, her statement, I was rather shocked by it,” said the host.

“She said, ‘As we saw in the past election, sadly, we ain’t ready …’ Okay, to me this is logical fallacy 101,” said Maher. “Just because we weren’t ready or didn’t like the candidates — [former secretary of state Hillary Clinton] and Kamala — that’s, you know, doesn’t mean we’re not ready for a woman. Maybe.”

The comedian returned to reading her statement, which continued, “That’s why I’m like, don’t even look at me about running, because you all are lying. You’re not ready for a woman. You are not. So don’t waste my time. We got a lot of growing up to do, and there’s still, sadly, a lot of men who do not feel like they can be led by a woman, and we saw it.”

“I think it’s a bad attitude. I do. I mean, we said we weren’t for a black president and someone, I can’t remember who, maybe she remembers, said, maybe it just has to be the right one,” snarked Maher as he turned her own words about her husband’s election victory against her.

Of course, Obama’s suggestion of sexism while on a pity parade selling her picture-centric book, “The Look,” had come along with griping about supposed racism as she lamented her style choices that sought to satisfy white “beauty standards.”

“Let me explain something to white people. Our hair comes out naturally in a curly pattern,” said the former first lady. “When we straighten it to follow your beauty standards, we are trapped by the straightness! That’s why so many of us can’t swim, and we run away from the water. People won’t go to the gym because we’re trying to keep our hair straight for y’all! It’s exhausting, and it’s so expensive and takes up so much time!”

Driving home how absurd Obama’s point was on whether or not American voters could unite behind a woman seeking the White House, even Brazile agreed with Maher saying, “So the idea that America isn’t ready is bulls*t,” after citing polling that found about 80% of Americans had no qualms supporting a woman running for president as evidenced by the millions who voted for Clinton and Harris.
