Beyoncé’s ‘ridiculous’ gesture during NFL half-time show earns mountains of mockery

The reactions unfurled as quickly as the “Bang” banner behind Beyoncé during her NFL halftime show on Christmas Day.

Football fans on social media joked about the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer’s finger-gun gesture at the end of the performance in light of the league’s recent crackdown on moves that may promote violence.

“There’s no place in professional football for that,” NFL executive Troy Vincent said of the gestures during an October meeting. “Think about where we are as a society. … I don’t think that’s where we are and what we’re trying to represent. We have a responsibility as professional athletes.”

The Christmas Day game between the Houston Texans and the Baltimore Ravens was dubbed “Beyoncé Bowl” as the award-winning singer performed songs during halftime from her latest album “Cowboy Carter.” The Texas native entered Houston’s NRG Stadium in epic fashion, riding on a horse.

Her daughter Blue Ivy Carter joined her onstage as did singers Post Malone and Shaboozey in a show that angered many social media users.

Beyoncé wrapped up the performance with a finger-gun gesture as she was raised into the air on a platform.

“Merry Christmas, God bless y’all, thank you so much,” she said as she made the hand move and a banner unfurled that read, “Bang.”

But with the NFL’s view of players making celebratory gestures and game officials throwing down flags after such demonstrations, the halftime show finale caught plenty of attention on X.
