Biden asked if he thinks Hamas should be eliminated: ‘Yes I do, BUT…

Touted tough guy President Joe Biden fell short of total condemnation of Hamas with a major caveat on whether they should be “eliminated entirely.”

“Yes…but…”

Though Scott Pelley’s sit down with Biden for CBS News’ “60 Minutes” premiered Sunday, days have passed since the Thursday conversation in which tension in the Middle East has only escalated. Now, as Israel braces for the potential of Hezbollah to join in the war from their north, the president envisioning a “two-state solution” seemed as pie in the sky as his own sentiments on striving for world peace.

“Do you believe that Hamas must be eliminated entirely?” asked Pelley.

“Yes, I do.,” replied Biden before qualifying, “But there needs to be a Palestinian authority. There needs to be a path to a Palestinian state.”

Not totally disconnected from the reality that jihadists had slaughtered over 1,300 during their October 7 attack, when the host asked, “And you believe Israel would pursue that after what’s occurred?” the commander-in-chief recognized, “Not now. Not now. Not now, but I think Israel understands that a significant portion of Palestinian people do not share the views of Hamas and Hezbollah.”

Speaking to the idea of a two-state solution, Pelley had detailed the long-held U.S. policy under the terms of the terrorists seeking to eradicate the Jews with reference to land historically known as Judea and Samaria by the term the West Bank which, with Gaza, would become a hypothetical Palestinian state.

Invoking Hezbollah, the Lebanon-based Islamists who, like Hamas, are backed by Iran, Pelley pivoted to the potential of their escalating the war as he asked, “There’s limited fighting already on the northern Israeli border, and I wonder what is your message to Hezbollah and its backer, Iran?”

“Don’t. Don’t, don’t, don’t,” postured Biden without clarity.

“Don’t come across the border? Don’t escalate this war?” wondered the host, attempting to complete the warning earning the response, “That’s right.”

The president was then asked if the same nation that his administration had unfrozen $6 billion worth of assets mere weeks prior to the terrorist attack, and for which his team continually worked with to complete the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, otherwise known as the Iran Nuclear Deal, was responsible.

“Is Iran behind the Gaza war?” asked Pelley.

“I don’t wanna get into classified information. But to be very blunt with you, there is no clear evidence of that,” said the same man who has insisted for years that he knew nothing about his own son’s foreign business deals.

Biden did however note, “Now, Iran constantly supports Hamas and Hezbollah — I don’t mean that. But in terms of were they…did they have foreknowledge? Did they help plan the attack? There’s no evidence of that at this point.”

Later in the discussion, the president explained that, despite the constant escalation of tension under his administration, he was running for reelection essentially as a means toward achieving world peace.

“…look, when I ran, I said, ‘The world’s at an inflection point.’ The world’s changing, but we have an opportunity to make it — so, imagine if we were able to succeed in getting the Middle East put in place where we have normalization of relations. I think we can do that,” he said before adding, “Imagine what happens if we fact, unite all of Europe and [Russian President Vladimir] Putin is finally put down where he cannot cause the kind of trouble he’s been causing,” the president continued. “We have enormous opportunities, enormous opportunities to make it a better world.”

The president’s delusions were readily set straight by social media users who pointed out that the two-state solution has long been a pipe dream because, as was currently playing out, “The Palestinians have no desire to live alongside Israel.”
