Biden takes a poke at his age while dropping cringe one-liners at WHCA Dinner, ribs ‘6-year-old’ Trump

Democrat talking points delivered as one-liners put age front and center as the president took aim at his GOP rival.

A different kind of “Saturday Night Live” put President Joe Biden and comedian Colin Jost on the same stage in Washington, D.C. as the White House Correspondents’ Association hosted their annual shoulder-rubbing gala of press and politicians often referred to as the nerd prom.

Traditionally a chance for self-deprecating humor from America’s executive, Biden took a few quick pokes at his own elderly state while turning more sugarcoated venom on former President Donald Trump.

“Sleepy Don,” tried the president, parrying away his own record of drowsy appearances over a recent report about Trump nodding off during the opening days of his New York criminal trial.

“The 2024 election is in full swing. And yes, age is an issue,” Biden continued before contending, “I’m a grown man running against a six-year-old.”

“But I feel great, I really feel great. I’m campaigning all over the country. Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina — I’ve always done well in the original 13 colonies,” he said in a tamer quip at himself after he’d joked about an exchange with first lady Jill Biden, said to be nervous after last year’s speech, related to falling down. “I said to her, ‘Don’t worry, it’s just like riding a bike.’ She said, ‘That’s what I’m worried about.'”

Maintaining the focus on Trump, Biden brought up a Pennsylvania speech by the Republican leader from a couple weeks ago where the Battle of Gettysburg was raised. “Trump’s speech was so embarrassing that the statue of Robert E. Lee surrendered again.”

“Age is the only thing we only have in common. My vice president actually endorses me,” furthered the White House resident as he pointed to Vice President Kamala Harris before returning to the lawfare against Trump.

“I’ve had a great stretch since the State of the Union. But, Donald has had a tough few days lately,” he suggested before a tongue-in-cheek reference to Trump’s alleged hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels. “You might call it ‘Stormy’ weather.”

The self-identified Catholic who recently brought admonishment upon himself for making the sign of the cross during a pro-abortion event tried to sling mud over his rival’s faith when he brought up Trump’s limited edition sale of Bibles.

“Trump so desperately started reading those Bibles he’s selling, then he got to the First Commandment, “You shall have no other gods before me.’ That’s when he put it down and said this book’s not for me,” delivered Biden.

The event’s co-host Jost ultimately made more barbs against the president than he had himself, including a reference to suggestions that the administration was a third term for former President Barack Obama, “I was excited to be up here on stage with President Biden tonight, mostly to see if I could figure out where Obama was pulling the strings from.”

As he had when Jimmy Kimmel hosted the Academy Awards this year, Trump weighed in with his own take on the WHCA dinner and posted to Truth Social, “The White House Correspondents’ Dinner was really bad. Colin Jost BOMBED, and Crooked Joe was an absolute disaster! Doesn’t get much worse than this!”

The entirety of Biden’s remarks can be viewed below that prompted the question, “Does he really want us to cover his record as [president]?”
