Bill Maher laughs off his pin-wearing peers

A question as to whether or not an award show political statement was “effective” found comedian Bill Maher laughing off his pin-wearing peers.

Going hand-in-hand with never letting a crisis go to waste, radicals don’t skip out on opportunities to virtue signal, and Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards were no exception. The latest stunt in support of a deceased anti-ICE activist, fatally shot while allegedly committing an act of domestic terrorism, was of little interest to Maher, who chided those adorned with “Be Good” pins on the red carpet.

Speaking with a USA Today reporter, the host of HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” was asked at the Golden Globes about celebrities such as Mark Ruffalo and Wanda Sykes sporting the pin in memoriam of Renee Good and whether it was “effective.”

In response, the comedian laughed and said, “We’re just here for show business today.”

“You know, it was a terrible thing that happened, and it shouldn’t have happened, and if they didn’t act like such thugs,” said Maher without clarifying if he was talking about federal law enforcement or leftist activists, “it wouldn’t have had to happen. But I don’t need to wear a pin about it.”

Among the celebrities using the award show to spout off about politics, Ruffalo was spotted with a “Be Good” pin that he used as a conversation piece to rail against President Donald Trump

“This is for Renee Nicole Good, who was murdered,” he argued to USA Today regarding the anti-ICE activist who’d allegedly accelerated her vehicle toward a federal officer, striking him and causing a hip injury.

“We’re in the middle of a war with Venezuela that we illegally invaded. [Trump’s] telling the world that international law doesn’t matter to him. The only thing that matters to him is his own morality, but the guy is a convicted felon, a convicted rapist. He’s a pedophile,” accused Ruffalo. “He’s the worst human being. If we’re relying on this guy’s morality for the most powerful country in the world, then we’re all in a lot of trouble.”

“So this is for her. This is for the people in the United States who are terrorized and scared today. I know I’m one of them,” he added. “I love this country. And what I’m seeing here happening is not America.”

Meanwhile, comedian Wanda Sykes had her own dig for Maher while presenting the award for Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television. Before announcing that Ricky Gervais was the winner and accepting the award on his behalf, mocking him by saying, “Thank God and the trans community,” Sykes had said, “Bill Maher, you give us so much. But I would love a little less. Just try less.
